Alright, I'm just going to post all my thoughts in brief form here:
From the patch notes show, I think I like the feel of the Joust changes. I still have some concerns that the jungle is a bit too big and spread out for what is mostly meant to be a concentrated 3v3 fight. We'll see.
There are a bunch of additions to Conquest, and I don't know how it's all going to play out. It definitely looks like it's going to be a slower early game, at least with regard to snowball potential, # of likely teamfights, etc. I'm glad it should keep people busy with all the added things (extra mid-harpy camp for each side, the jungle shrine, the earlier spawning void buff, the alpha harpy in Duo, etc.). Question is, how much do these things discourage boxing in place of just clearing camps and waves?
Huge nerf to Guardian's Blessing with regard to sustain. Forces the Duo lane to be a Duo lane. Really slows down aggression as you'll need to either get more potions, or really watch your mana and use your abilities a lot less. Not sure I like that whole concept.
The new Vision Shard free relic and Hand of the Gods consumable are...okay. I do like the added vision to a degree, but when you combine all of the different changes, you're almost preventing any potential for functional invade, or at least making it unappealing to most. I get that concept, but it also really decreases the potential variability of matches.
Potion of Power (combined from magical/physical) is interesting, as it now gives physical gods the same CDR.
Chalices no longer stacking with potions is probably a good thing.
Mystical Mail...less health but 250 cheaper. Does make it more attractive to bring back a bit of early aggression in Solo for select gods. Guan likes this.
Shogun's Kusari 5% AS aura buff is solid for group objective push.
Sovereignty (HP5 increase) and Heartward Amulet (MP5 increase) bring these items back into prominence. This looks like it's reverting back into a tank meta (more on that in a bit), and I'm not sure I like that either.
Dynasty Plate Helm sees a huge price decrease, a smaller magical power decrease, a bit of added health, and loses the pen. It now becomes a true T2 item building into Tyrannical Plate Helm, which costs 2400 gold, 85 magical power, 40 phys prots, 100 health, 20% CCR, and an interesting passive to boost minion health and AS, along with gaining power when minions die. That becomes an interesting tanky item for mids looking to put a lot of pressure on pushing minions. I wonder how much this will get picked up.
Stone of Fal...god, it's still fairly ****py IMO. The drop of flat pen options will make this a more effective item, though.
New Ring of Hecate is a solid option for mage ADCs...power, AS, and lifesteal.
New Charon's Coin is an interesting item. Somewhat higher cost and a weird, unique stacking mechanic. What's the whole gaining 1 gold thing??? HAHAHA. Expect it to be a mid-game or mid/late-game item to start working on those stacks, and also due to the cost and % pen.
Obsidian Shard should now be a pure late-game item since it's all about % pen with no other stats, while other % pen items have other functional stats...some mages were picking this as early as 4th item, now see it strictly as item 6 or 7, and not necessarily core at that.
Spear of the Magus needed nerfs to the protection reduction. This is still a strong item for DoT gods though.
Not a huge amount to say that I didn't already regarding the sweeping changes to the magical pen adjustments. Also won't really talk about the minor power increase to some other items.
Warlock's Staff gets reduced stacks and waaaaay less bonus health, while gaining a bit of power and 10% pen. This item is so weird now. Stacking usually means pick it up early. This moves it to being a mid-game item. The overall stats are fairly solid, but not sure people pick this up in lieu of other options.
New aura item Caduceus Shield costs 2500 gold, has 30 phys power, 35 phys and mag prots, 100 health, and an aura that increases teammate healing by 10-25% (depending on if you're in combat or not). Basically a Rod of Asclepius for physical gods, and that makes this a really nice item for Guan Yu.
I'm okay with the reverted nerf of Hydra's Lament, as well as the slight buffs to the Shuriken items. Malice getting an official 10% CDR is pretty nice for it.
Odin's changes seem good. The interesting thing is now Gungnir's Might, which looks like it becomes a possible level 1 ability, as it seems to travel through minions, and will deal 3 levels of pulse damage as well. That seems way too strong at level 1, honestly, although it can be interrupted by a knockup (not knockback) or stun. Level 1 total damage = 90 + 45 + 45 + 45 = 225 damage. Did they really mean that?
In the end, a lot of early/mid pen options have been somewhat dropped, though some like The Crusher and Stone Cutting Sword remain powerful options. That seems in some ways like a nerf to early-game mages, guardians/supports, etc., with a shift to strengthen physical junglers that use things like SCS. Way more %pen options, but they're likely built later, so you end up with an early tank/low damage scenario, with bigger potential effect for the damage dealers late-game, particularly against tanky gods. With less magical flat pen options, we should see less early burst potential against other squishy gods, but with higher power, similar end numbers late-game, perhaps.
[*] Daily login - They finally noticed that NOBODY likes to CLAIM THE DAILY LOGIN and reverted this stupid change.
[*] Loved that BP is now awarding people with a free skin, I always said they should do it. (Unfortunately is the worst but better than nothing).
[*] Engine Updates - I LOVED THIS NEWS. I can download an update now and not the entire ****ing game again on consoles. I hope they lower and optimize the game to run in lower PC so more people can play the game with less than 30 fps on everything on low like I tried.
[*] Surrender Vote Rules - FINALLY THAT GUY AFK THAT ISN'T VOTING, DON'T KNOW HOW TO VOTE OR SIMPLY FORGOT ABOUT IT WON'T BE A PROBLEM ANYMORE.
[*] New Skins Added to CHESTS - Some new "free" skins are always nice :)
general conquest changes
Jungle Shrine - I see potential for this but mid and jg will have to be synced to avoid waste jg rotations.
New harpies (camp Split and duo XP camp) and XP share - Nice the duo harpy but I really didn't like the mid split. I think they are going too far with this "don't invade" idea. Finally the XP shared won't hurt the support so much that used to be like 3 or 4 lvls behind sometimes.
"Removed Gold Fury from the fury spawn pool after 20 minutes" - HR at season 6: We are adding new GFs to keep this objective relevant. *40 min spawns normal gf and nobody cares because it's useless*. They FINALLY noticed normal GF shouldn't appear at late game. My statement that they should include at least one more type of GF remains.
Tankier JG - Nice to make harder to non junglers kill the jg. So they can wait the jungler or simply leave it to him.
Gold and Totem of Ku adjustments - With more gold and XP of course they would lower towers and other sources of gold/xp. Predictable. Also the totem now increase the mana received proportionally as time pass, so the early totems will not feel must pick and whoever controlling it has a huge advantage, specially on mid.
Buff changes - Mana, MP5 per mana missing, similar to the Mage's Blessing. Blackthorn as one of the first items or the first item is back since mana hungry solos will need it. Maybe mana potions will be necessary on solo now? interesting. Red nerf on damage, kinda okay, less snowball. Speed buff (+10% CCR) - Not sure why they did it but I doubt it will change something early game. Late game it probably will be more useful to the jg. Purple - FINALLY THIS **** IS BACK TO THE ADC, now it increases AS no more prot reduction. I see a lot of supps getting it wrongly now.
Guardian's Blessing seems a bit too useless now. Why not just Warrior's Blessing and be much more tank a bit later? With both I will have to manage carefully the mana anyway and now we have XP camps nearby.
Vision Shard Is a nice addition, my fear is that this do not encourage people buy wards, specially Sentries.
Hand of the Gods it's an item that will be removed later or rework, it's just to make people don't invade speed anymore.
Potion of Power finally we won't need get full CDR with items on physicals.
Chalices, I'm okay. No more unkillable solos from this sustain + gladiator/berserk.
I hate Mystical Mail. I hope this item don't become meta.
The old builds with thebes + Sov + HA is back. Specially since the supp will stay with the ADC more.
Tyrannical Plate Helm - ZK, Jorm and other magical solos will dominate the lane again. I can see even use for duo with an early pressure support like Cerberus.
stone of fall - I think they finally fixed the item and this can work as intended now bring protections to mid laners against high burst skills. Just don't know if it will be that good due all pen items changes we had.
Ring of Hecate - Seems a good item for magical adcs. CHARON’S COIN seems to be a fun item bringing a unique new play style based on lucky without make you too dependent of luck to have good results.
Pen items changes: OS - Okay, Might still a good item, just not as core as it was. Spear of the Magus - Anubis ulti will simply MELT anyone got on the stun that don't use beads or some kinda of damage immunity. I'm okay with other items getting % pen stats so we can build different things but still effective. Void now is much more a decent late game item than a simply early item for pressure. Gods like Cerberus will keep melting people mow even the tanks :v
WARLOCK’S STAFF - Don't know if I liked this item. Early % pen, and less HP and less power the Book of Thoth. Don't know if this will change the item situation.
Extra power on some items, nothing really special, some of them really needed to feel more useful.
CADUCEUS SHIELD - Nice to see a physical item increasing healing. Cupid ADC and Guan Yu support meta? LOL.
Cursed Blade - This is something I was expecting a lot of years ago. The blade tree has some good T3 but a Horrible T2, so it's better wait and buy the T1 to T3 or just wait and buy the entire T3. Now they did a better T2 for Toxic and Witch.
GLADIATOR’S SHIELD FINALLY NERFED. NO MORE ****ING King ArthurS CARYYING THE LANE KILLING ANYTHING!!!!!
Void Shield nerf ;-;. No more true damage Ratatoskr but also a more efficient rat late game :)
Silverbranch Bow they just didn't understand yet that this item sucks.
Hydra's Lament nerf. Fair. Gods like Susano were just melt too easy people late game with HL + Trans + HS.
Minor buffs on shurikens nothing that will do I build those items. Malice also got buffed with 10% which was extremely unnecessary now since Trans + Fail + new damage potion is already 40% CDR. Doubt this will be built unless if you want to have some fun.
Soul Eater buff. I nice idea since this item is good but usually not the best option.
Reverted Lono's mask nerf. OK, they killed the item now they revive. RANGDA’S MASK is in the same boat of Silverbranch.
Gods
[*] Odin and Bastet rework. I liked the bastet one but I disliked Odin, doubt he will return to the glory days on solo, specially now that chalices and potions are not stacking.
[*] Cu Chulainn buff - Not necessay at my view point but nice, specially the rage buff on ulti. It will allow jump in the fight earlier and the passive sure will activate.
[*] Freya nerf - Lower lifesteal early game which is fine since Bancroft + her passive makes almost impossible box her alone early game
[*] Guan Yu minor buffs - Okay. He was faded from the game.
[*] Hades buff - more tanky due the new HP stats + the mitigation on his ulti maybe allow him ulti without die in the process at late game.
[*] Heimdallr nerfs - extremely predictable, he was way too strong. I always said his scallings were pretty ******ed for a hunter, someone ranged full of damage and pen in the build.
[*] Eset nerfs - thanks HR, though I think it's not enough, they should remove the slow from her 3rd skill since its already grants shield for everyone nearby and silence.
[*] Izanami buff - more damage on the basic attacks and lower initial CD on her 2. An even more ******ed clear wave, don't think she will get good due this buffs but better than nothing.
[*] Jing Wei nerf - finally they noticed she is hardly ever punished for her bad positioning because she can just ulti and dash away.
[*] Nemesis buff - from top pick to one of the worst gods in game. It doesn't change much but still a buff ;)
[*] Nike BUFF - Still boring AF to play with. But at least now she will hurt more.
[*] Rama - Nice to start with all arrows after respawn. He may be better on non-conquest modes. On conquest that doesn't change much things. Also he waste way less mane to ulti. Noice.
[*] SERQET shift (nerf + buff) - Less damage on the 1 but way more damage on the ulti with the scalings and still true damage. Trans serqet is coming. Wait, that doesn't sounded good.
[*] Sun Wukong - more damage on the ulti and AS slow as well on his 2. Pretty nice to counter basic attackers late game (and early/mid game if his opponent is BA).
[*] Thor - THEY ****ING FINALLY NOTICED THAT IF RATATOSKR CAN'T HAVE A SEMI GLOBAL ULTI WITH 90 SECS, WHY THOR WOULD? Just remembering this was the main nerf that brought Rat out of meta. Will it remove thor too? I have my doubts.
@Myst: I think Specialist's Blessing is underrated for those non-Conquest modes for healers. Solid starter for Assault and Joust, for example.
I think Guardian's might still be the go-to for Supps, but Warrior seems like the better option if you're going aggressive and looking for an early kill...if you can even do that now.
Keep in mind, gods that have pen or protection reduction in their kits might be valued a bit more now...Rat in particular comes to mind. Nerf to a bunch of pen items and Void Shield = direct buff to Rat compared to some others (not including SCS/Crusher users).
Bran: I mean, not saying directly that Specialist's Blessing is bad, just that there are way better other starters for non-conquest modes :v
About guardian I doubt it will be forgotten, but it will not be a must starter like now, there will be other options and early gods like Cerb will still (now without early flat pen items) excellent options for aggressive early game comps and I think specially him still able to get easily a kill early game.
About my lovely rat, yes he will not be an easy snowball machine early game because acorn + crusher + void was true damage with his 2 easy easy, however I don't think he will fall at early game, he will be slightly less efficient at this moment. However, late game he will be much more dangerous with the base prot reduction + % pen due the new void, core item on him. And he will also receive his acorns back (and I hope they rework the passive too).
So, I'm really curious and why not say excited for the S7.
like the battle pas changes. prestige track was an overkill to reach for a title, if you don't plaY 24/7
and well more fee stuff.
thank god for the daily login revert.
no opinion on the surrender vote change.
conquest changes
like myst said jungle shrine gonna get taking used to but also quite annoying micromanagent of the jungle which can impact play at least it's stack till 7.
don't like the mid harpy change mostly as mid will be a lot safer as ganking from the changed side gonna be dangerous.
like a tankier jungle this will make sure early game the jungle will be clearing it and late game everyone can still clear it like it's supposed too
totem of ku nerfs yay.
purple buff change is great. however people that do not read changes will keep it on the support
Joust update is exciting only I think for duel it's not as great.
nice god queue changes however they need to make it like all other queues so games will be found quicker that's what I am missing.
items
heh seems LoL support items are not the only ones that were too strong in the non support lane. making it a pure support item, while not nerfign my sustain in an assault game XD.
vision shard gonna help people ward. positive effect.
Dunno how much use HoG is gonna see.
nice power pot
chalice change is how it was supposed too.
Mystical Mail is an item which can be strong, however it's actual use is being misunderstanded. It is and still stays a waveclear item, yes the damage ticks do help you in prolonged trades too, however it's really minor especially in teamfight modes (where you can quickly die) and late game. Just like LoL sunfire cape pick it up to help you early for waveclear or find/exchange it for something else late.
aura buffs supportgasm also assaultgasm gonna love the dov and heartward even more now
new helm is gonna make solobek and the crew more viable again. Most solo lane guardians suffer from their low AA damage making it easy to push them in and also making them very mana hungry cause of the ability spam. Both with the mystical buff this can help them wave clear to get a chance to contest totem (even though they suck at clearing totem)
yeah just remove stone of fall we got a lot of items and even gaining new ones that some drop so far in use and are better of axed. Only Dota has more items and that's cause they don't abide by the 3 tier system
new ring is gonna be loved by the mage adc and does not make them awkward during the early game with their low AS.
coin is gonna be interesting.
rip shamans not that I care we got several new items and still too much of them.
I think the pen removal is gonna be a RIP for Shoes of the Magi it does prevent guardians from choosing it, however I think most mages except for adc mages will prefer Shoes of Focus this will probably also mean that Chronos' Pendant might drop out of a lot of builds depending on how many 10% CDR items are going to be common use.
not gonna cover the pen changes that much wanna see how it plays. Spear of the Magus is probably going to see a lot less use on several gods. The gods that are going to use it probably rely on one of their DoT or have multiple DoT/multihit (e.g. Anubis Raijin). Gonna slightly wonder for Kukulkan as it still helps his tornado but that's also it or if it's gonna be more situational
don't think Warlock's Staff will see a lot of change in it's use. stats don;t match up which provides a handicap for picking it up early compared to earlier. why because the health nerfs. while the 500 hp it could give was a lot it now hurts a lot more and mages can still be quite tanky with Ethereal Staff and a lot of other items. if you're afraid of mages becoming tanky you should also adjust the other items HP. warlock's HP got adjusted quite harshly. I expect it to get buffs somewhere
Spear of Desolation sees some love which might be overtuning it. It still has flat pen so this might become a staple item 2nd/3rd (depending on stacking). The item can be considered overloaded with it's stats expect nerfs soon. also love how the description talks about pen overtaking magic power and they buff the hybrid item.
love the Enchanted Ring ring change, making magical adc less awkward until they finish one.
love the Void Stone shift since it becoems stronger late and weaker early. expect the same for Void Shield
heal shield bit too niche for my taste but usefull for support warriors like Guan Yu and Horus
yay glad shield nerfs.
Silverbranch Bow remove it or rework it don;t complement bad building.
Dunno about the pen nerfs for exe and TB. I felt they were at a fine spot. you felt liek you did more damage but it also didn;t feel like you would be melted. until someone picked up Qin's Sais but that is another item.
yeah hydra nerf was needed. made for a lot of competent bruiser assassins. even though they got=t nerfed with the void changes, these thigns slightly depromote tank meta.
stars not gonna change a lot. liek the malice change for it;s clearer identity, however with the cdr from trans and new pot it won;t see a lot more use unless someone goes Devourer's Gauntlet
honestly remove the masks.
gods
]
exceited to try out both new gods.
artemis buff gonna help her early game while keeping her hyper lategame identity
hades buffs were necessary for his mage play and tank play
serqet shift was needed. 660 true damage is a lot, however too lazy to do the math of the ulty damage now.
