A lot of these items in this build either combo well with other items, counters different solo gods, or works with his kit. Let's explain the full recommended build first before we move on to the optional item choices.
Recommended Full Build
So why is this the recommended build? Well, most solo warrior builds revolve around the Solo laner to be like a second support, yet do enough damage to help the team. This is your typical Solo build for
Chaac that involves penetration items, both magical and physical defense, and items to increase his ability in engaging or escaping from enemies. This is a solid build and works very well with his kit. An Item like Shield of Regrowth is perfect on him as it increases his movement when he is healed. Therefore he can engage enemies quicker or give himself a chance to escape.
Let us move on to his starter items.
Starter Kit
So for the starter items.
Bluestone Pendant is a basic starter item that I feel Ability based gods, such as
Chaac or
Tyr, desperately need. The reason why is because it will increase their MP5, increase early game mana to substitute for their early game mana hunger, and it will put a bleed effect on all enemies hit by abilities. The bleed is similar to
Loki's
Vanish.
Warrior Tabi is a basic item that ALL warriors, with exceptions to
Ravana and MAYBE
Erlang Shen, should have. It provides a decent amount of power at a relatively low price. This item will make your abilities hurt early game and increase wave clear possibilities. DO NOT BUY
Ninja Tabi.
Now let's shake things up and talk about optional item choices in order.
First Defensive Item
So the first item you are going to want to buy after you get your starter kit is some form of defense. Never build offensive first. So what's so good about all these items? Well
Breastplate of Valor is your typical solo lane first defense item as it provides 10 MP5, 300 Mana, 65 Physical Protection, and 20% Cooldown Reduction. This is your recommended item. However, should you choose for some odd reason not to build
Breastplate of Valor first you'll need some obvious substitutes.
Gladiator's Shield is a good item as it provides 15 Physical power, which'll make you hit harder early game, 45 Physical protections, which is still good for defense, and 10% Cooldown Reduction. So while it falls off in Protection and CDR values
Gladiator's Shield gives you physical power and also heals you for 2.5% of your max HP for each ability used. Therefore in theory increase sustain when added onto
Rain Dance. But maybe you want something else, which is fine, and neither of these sound like your style. Another good item is
Void Shield. Why? This is because it offers 40 Physical Protections and 30 physical power. This will help you take more damage and deal more as well. It also decreases all enemy god's physical protections by 20 if they are nearby you. So in theory this will make you hit harder when in combat with the enemy solo or if you get ganked early game.
Let's move on to the next item choices. Penetration items! (Har har.)
First Pen(Penetration) items.
If you are playing a warrior it is VITAL that you acquire at LEAST 1-2 Pen items. Penetration helps you break through a Support's defense or break down a Warrior's protections. If someone is building tanky THIS is a recommended no-brainer. What Pen items should you buy? Well,
Jotunn's Wrath is a very stable and often necessary Pen item for ANY warrior. It's a core item because it offers 20% CDR, 40 physical power, 150 mana, and 10 Pen.
Jotunn's Wrath offers a wide variety of benefits that can increase lane sustain and increase your chances of killing your opponent. However, let's say you are going against a fellow
Chaac or even a
Tyr (God forbid you fight my own
Tyr ;) ) then you'll need some sort of pen item that you can build quickly to counter their healing. Well, in this case,
Brawler's Beat Stick is a fantastic substitute. It offers 40 Physical power and 15 Pen. It also reduces enemy healing by 40% if you hit them with an ability. This is the PERFECT item for a Tyr/Chaac/Herc. However maybe you aren't fighting one of these gods and heaven forbid you want to try something else. Therefore, you could try
Heartseeker. Now you may be wondering, "Eley, What are you doing?
Heartseeker is for assassins!" Now I know this, but it could still be plausible for use.
Heartseeker offers 25 physical power, 10 Pen, and 10% Movement speed increase. This item's passive is that for ever basic attack you gain a stack. (Sound familiar?
Overflow) At 5 stacks your next ability does bonus damage equal to your physical power. So every 5 basics you get a free ability and can then use a hard-hitting ability like
Thunder Strike to devastate enemy gods.
Moving on to the next item! The Specialty choice!
The Third Item Choice
This next section doesn't have any specific item you should buy other than these four. These are all fine items to build on
Chaac and each have their own benefits and downfalls. So the recommended item here is Shield of Regrowth. Why? Well, for starters, it provides 300 Hp, 10% CDR, and 10 HP5+MP5. So this item provides you with an extra health and HP/MP5 boost which will help increase the sustain in lane. The 10% CDR is nice if you aren't already capping it. The passive also lets you move at high speeds after activating
Rain Dance. This is a highly recommended item for Chaac, even if you overcap CDR. However, maybe you aren't dealing enough damage to that
Hercules or that annoying
Ymir.
Titan's Bane is a GREAT item and is also highly recommended for anyone building a Pen item. This offers 30 Physical power and gives you 33% physical penetration. That is a LOT! This is the 'Bane' of tanks! Haha! Anyways maybe you aren't feeling that either.
Transcendence is another great item you can use. This fantastic item offers you 35 physical power, 300 Mana, and 6 MP5. What is so great about this item though is it's passive. Everytime you get a minion kill you gain a stack, up to 50, that increases your mana by 15. Additionally, 3% of your mana is converted into physical power. So if you have 2000 mana you're looking roughly at about an increase of 60 physical power. It's easy to get this large amount of mana when you already have
Breastplate of Valor and
Jotunn's Wrath. However, maybe you aren't feeling some good ole'
Transcendence and maybe you want to try something else out. That's fine!
Ancile works just fine in this situation as well. This item offers 25 physical power, 60 magical protection, and 10% CDR. This is a fine substitute for items such as
Gladiator's Shield or even Shield of Regrowth as it's passive can help you during a team fight. Every 30 seconds if you are struck by a magical ability you release a shockwave that silences all nearby enemy gods for 1 second. So this item works just fine and dandy if you're feeling adventurous.
Moving on to the next item choice, Magical Defense!
Magical Defense
This next section is dedicated pretty much to your magical defense. Let's face it. You NEED magical protections if you are gonna be able to stay in a team fight going down in the mid lane. If you don't have at LEAST one magical defense item that Mid Mage is gonna chew right through you. Especially if it is a
Ra or some other hard hitting mage. So let's start with your typical state of the art Magical defense item,
Bulwark of Hope. This is a classic magical defense choice. It offers 60 magical protections, 200 health, and 20% Crowd Control Reduction. This is the best item if you want to play safe. It's passive also gives you an HP shield when you drop below 30% HP. This is a fantastic item to prolong team fight capabilities. However, perhaps you have a
Chang'e or even a
Ra on the enemy team. Their heal is pretty damn annoying. A perfect counter for them, and just about any other close range healr, is good ole'
Pestilence. This is also a classic item as it provides 80 magical protections and 200 Health. However, enemies within 55 units have their healing and regeneration reduced by 25%. That can really hurt! However maybe you aren't feeling like using
Pestilence or
Bulwark of Hope. Maybe you want to be a little different this time. You can always try out an interesting item such as
Genji's Guard. This item offers 70 magical protections, 10% CDR, and 20 MP5. The interesting passive on this item is that if you are hit by a magical ability your cooldowns are reduced by 2 seconds. This can trigger every 30 seconds and won't trigger if an ability is not on cooldown. That is quite unique and will help speed along that escape route or a surprise ultimate. However, maybe not even these can satisfy you. I have just the thing.
Hide of the Urchin is a fantastic choice as well and is a nice item if you are building
Transcendence. This beautiful beast offers 35 Magical AND Physical protections and 250 Health and Mana. It's awesome passive is that for each kill or assist you get you receive a stack. Each stack offers you 3 of each protection type and stacks up to 10. So 10 kills later you have 65 magical and physical protections. BOOM!
Moving on to the next item choice, Situational Items.
The Final/Situational Item Choice
So this next slot is for when you sell your starter item Bluestone Pendent. You're gonna need something to replace that bad boy and there are several different options for you that all depend on the game and how it's going. We already know about
Titan's Bane and
Hide of the Urchin and therefore I'm not gonna reexplain these items. However if neither of those two suit your needs you can always go with something that will ruin an ADC's day,
Hide of the Nemean Lion. This item offers 80 physical protections, 200 mana, and 20 MP5. What this fantastic item does is reflect 25% of all BASIC attack damage back to the player who dealt it. So that pesky
Artemis who is smacking you around with crits will also receive 25% of the damage to themselves. That is gonna hurt! However perhaps you want to be tankier against the Magical enemy gods. You can always grab
Oni Hunter's Garb for this choice. This item offers 60 magical protections, 20% Crowd Control Reduction, and 20 MP5. This item's passive is that if you hit an enemy god with an ability and at least 2 others are within a 55 unit range near you you gain 15% damage mitigation for 5 seconds. This can be triggered every 90 seconds. However maybe that isn't your cup of Joe and you want to get in there.
Qin's Sais is a great item for Chaac. This items offers you 40 physical power and 15% physical attack speed. This item, per basic attack, deals 4% of an enemy god's life to them. So you can tear down that other warrior or Guardian. This will also benefit your passive.
Figured I might as well comment on this build as well.
This one definitely looks better to start than the SWK one.
I know there are some that are really in favor of Transcendence right now, but being in the Solo lane with the mana buff, I figure the added mana is generally unneeded. The better early option would be to build Jotunn's Wrath earlier.
I do really like the idea of getting Shield of Regrowth...it can really make him mobile. If it works for you as 3rd item, great, but think it might be better built a bit later, so you can get some other, potentially more helpful items earlier. Up to you there, but you might bet better use out of a stronger protection item.
As in the SWK build, you're lacking a good penetration item, and Bloodforge really shouldn't be built on Chaac. He's got built-in healing, and lifesteal only applies to basic attacks. Your main function is to throw that big axe and soak up damage.
So...keeping this one shorter, Bluestone Pendant, Warrior Tabi, protection item #1, Jotunn's Wrath (or get this even sooner if you're easily winning lane and don't have too much concern about ganks), protection item #2, Shield of Regrowth, and a penetration item. That's probably pretty standard for him.
First off, thank you for taking the time to comment and give me advice. As I have said I've only played Casual and not a single match of ranked mostly due to not having the godpack. So any advice is good advice for me.
Second off, this build is NOT in the right order and that is my fault. I have a much better item order but because of the fact that I can't remember it off the top of my head I just put all the items in as I remember them. My build is much more organized than this and that is my mistake.
Finally, I agree with you on Bloodforge. To be honest I know there are SOOO many other items on Smite that could be put in place. However, seeing as I'm not an expert at this game I sometimes find I don't know what to build next. Hence, I use Bloodforge as a fallback item. However, if you can suggest another item to put in it's place (Which honestly now, I put Titan's Bane instead) then I am all ears!
Overall, thank you for the critique. It's all slowly turning me into a better Smite player.
I never got the god pack myself...but I now have all but 2 or 3 gods unlocked (only Xing Tian, Cabrakan, and maybe someone else?).
Titan's Bane is probably considered core for Chaac.
If you DO like getting Shield of Regrowth, you'll probably want to consider switching out either Breastplate of Valor or Jotunn's Wrath, as you're overcapping CDR (40% max). I won't tell you which one, and it probably depends how you're doing that match.
Transcendence really should not be purchased as the 5th item if you're set on getting it. Since it's a stacking item, you usually want it as your first main item, or at least by your 3rd item...but again, I suggest against it for Chaac.
As with the feedback on SWK, in place of items like Transcendence (and your request for an alt to Bloodforge, these should be counter items. Usually protections with added effects to counter specific enemies are preferred. If you want ideas, check out my Guan Yu guide, and read up on some of my explanations in the body of the guide. Specifically, look at my Solo lane chapter.
