Playing AgniAgni, the God of Fire; capable of incredibly burst, has an insane amount of mobility with Path of Flames, and is full of swag. Recently, I have taken a liking to Agni (more like a loving), I've only played a handful of games with the god, but he feels so comfortable in my hands. Moreover, I perform very will with him. This guide will go fairly in-depth about Agni's everything: abilities, itemization possibilities, tips and tricks, as well as the general Do's and Don'ts as a mid laner. Enjoy! |
Incredible Burst/Damage Potential Excellent Mobility with Path of Flames Amazing Passive: Combustion Wonderful Objective Contestation Full of Swag |
Heavily Reliant on Path of Flames Semi-Reliant on Items Easily countered by cripples Squishy |

Every four basic attacks, Agni will gain a buff called Combustion. This buff applies to Flame Wave and Rain Fire. Any enemy gods hit by those abilities will be ignited and take damage every .5 seconds for 3 seconds. |
|
Agni places a cloud of noxious fumes in the targeted area. Any enemy god who steps in this area takes magic damage every second. Flame Wave, Path of Flames, and Rain Fire trigger a one second stun on any enemy god within Noxious Fumes. |
|
Agni fires a wave of fire in an area in front of him, all enemy gods within that area take magic damage. This ability ignites Noxious Fumes. |
|
Agni dashes forward, leaving behind a trail of scorching fire. Any enemies that step through the flames are burned every .5 seconds for 2 seconds. This ability ignites Noxious Fumes, and Agni is immune to knockbacks during the dash. |
|
Agni gains a flaming halo every 20 seconds (without CDR), at the expense of one of these halos, he may summon a massive meteor at his ground target location. If he has more than one halo, he may spawn a meteor every .8 seconds. This ability ignites Noxious Fumes. |

Agni doesn't really need Attack Speed, as nice as it would be to build up Combustion in a shorter time, it only scales for a small amount if you have Attack Speed rather than full Magical Power. |

While I don't advise it, buying an item as simple as Void Stone can help with the team, as well as give you some kind of defense. Breastplate of Valor is an option, but I strongly advise against it. Unless you are playing against a Physical Heavy comp, there isn't a reason to buy this item. You already have Book of Thoth which gives more mana and magical power than Breastplate of Valor. |

You just need some form of penetration. Whether it be Obsidian Shard, Spear of the Magus, or Void Stone. Even if the enemy team doesn't build magical defense (which is most likely not possible) |

It's just damage, damage is always a nice thing to have at your disposal. All abilities scale off of it. |

You can never go wrong a little bit of lifesteal, and Bancroft's Talon is such a good item for it. Which is why it is in this build! |

So, this guide has kind of fallen out of my To-Do list. I'll come back to it eventually, but updates to the guide will be slow. I've got a lot more to worry about than a SMITE Guide. This will be updated eventually, I think.

As a note on your guide though...I can't explain the math personally but most people who are smarter than me say that you are losing efficiency when you build BOTH Spear of the Magus and Obsidian Shard. In my personal testing in jungle practice, I have not found a situation where I want shard over spear. Even on like Eset I would think that with your first wing gust would do more damage than without, but with spear the 2nd/3rd/4th would hit harder, but in fact every single hit with spear is harder in that case. I've tested similar instances with Scylla and Agni and always find the same thing so for now I'd say take shard out of the build, it's just not useful right now.
The build is an example, it isn't mandatory to build both. I just put that here because of how common it is to see both Obsidian Shard and Spear of the Magus. Another reason is that I chose Shoes of Focus over Shoes of the Magi. My intention was not to box you in a single build, but to experiment on your own builds by putting a few example items.
a follow up note on myself, if somebody can give me a situation where Obsidian Shard is better than Spear of the Magus I'm all ears. Maybe my testing is flawed, but I personally haven't found myself wanting shard over spear.
Gods like Vulcan who do a majority of their damage with 2 abilities benefit from Obsidian Shard as they don't need to stack it, but gods with sustained damage or DOTs get the most bang with Spear of the Magus as they can quickly stack them then just shred.
I also think (not to sure) that Obsidian Shard is better for objectives, as you can't debuff them so building Spear of the Magus is literally pointless against them.
Anyway, with my mages I REALLY like CDR for obvious reasons, but I also find penetration infinitely valuable, so I go Shoes of the Magi over Shoes of Focus. I just want as much damage as possible, especially early. This is particularly useful with the dot damage you can apply with the Combustion buff. So for my start I'll go with Vampiric Shroud plus lost articfact and two potions. Nothing special there. So I get the pen boots and then Chronos' Pendant second, then Book of Thoth or Spear of the Magus third. If I go spear I will usually skip book altogether, but if I get book here, I get spear fifth.
At this point I'm looking for my next CDR item, which is where I think my mage builds differ from most. My fourth item is almost exclusively Winged Blade. This gives me 35% CDR instead of 40% max CDR but at this point I think realistically we're talking about what...ONE second longer? That's a trade I'm willing to make for 300 health and slow immunity. The attack speed boost is kind of irrelevant on my girl Eset but on Agni I guess you can make the argument that you can stack his passive faster but that's negligible. Really though it's just an item that's nice to boost your CDR while also protecting your squishy self from slow immunity. This is a WONDERFUL thing to have against Kukulkan or Poseidon or Ah Puch or Sol or any of the many Gods that can slow you.
Sixth I get either Ethereal Staff or Rod of Tahuti. If my team is doing well protecting me and keeping my alive I prefer rod so I can just deal that much more damage, but if the fights are breaking down around me or I'm just constantly in a bad spot, I'd rather have the 600 health you get from Ethereal Staff. Or even a defensive item like Hide of the Urchin. If I'm dying a lot early, I may prefer Spirit Robe to Winged Blade for the defense and CDR reduction combo.
Anyway...my ideal Agni build is probably Shoes of the Magi into Chronos' Pendant into Book of Thoth into Winged Blade into Spear of the Magus into Rod of Tahuti with the exceptions that I laid out above.

Wow, it's looking great so far!
Thanks Greenevers! I am pretty bad at BBCoding, so I used the templates from Code Blue: Beginner's Guide to BBCoding. I plan to make a few of my own (through trial and error), and I'm that I can make a sick BBCoding template for myself. <3
The official guide will be released in about 3 to 4 days.
Sorry! <3
