Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Possibly because Kraken was too Overpowered. It was about the same power as the Fire Giant. My assumption was they changed it to the Gold Fury because the good bonus can be received earlier than the FG buff. Since FG buff can be a game changed. GF can't do much of a game changed late game. However, if teams are premade. Sometimes, friends will try and take on GF at level 1 which is highly advantageous early game.
Sorry for going off topic but back to what I was saying. They wanted one lf the power buffs to be scored earlier, thus having the gold fury. Just a giant harpy.
The Kraken might be OP but the gold fury is too easy to kill :P

the kraken was the old gold fury in conquest if you want animations for it check out smite pax 2011 b-roll also everyone wanted it back and now that is posideons ulti everyone will get posideon for the reason that he is the 31st god everyone wont have ultimate god pack and buy 8$ of gems, so smite will make a large profit
