I wanted to complain a little first. Well, it's not really complaining actually, but it annoyed me when it happened (not anymore though). Yesterday I played arena with Chiron. We had a pretty balanced team (not perfect, but who cares, it's normal arena). I noticed quite soon that my entire team was completely ignoring the minions, so I decided to kill as much as I could, while still managing to get some kills. After some 13 minutes - maybe a little earlier or later - an ally (Bastet) started to complain about how stupid I was for killing minions since godkills are worth 5 tickets. I have lost many arena matches in which my team had more kills than the enemy, but we still lost, so I kept on killing minions. (We lost this game after all though). Now I kind of want to know who was right? I'm not saying killing enemy gods isn't important, I just mean that killing minions is just as important.
Another thing. You probably all have heard/read about the chances for the daily quest system. I'm actually very happy about this change. I like the daily login bonus for the bonus (of course). But the idea of quests was very appealing too. Because when you have to do a quest, the reward is actually a reward, though the login bonus was very easy to get. But the problem (at least for me) was that the quests were very timeconsuming. There are days I barely have the time to even log in. So combining these 2 is awesome. People will get a bonus for logging in and those who have more time to play, will get more. In my opinion it's a great change =)
Signing out.
If you think about it, to be able to let minions get in the portal, you need to :
1- Clear the minion wave in the middle of the map
2- Clear the 2nd minion wave, between middle and their portal (Otherwise your minions will attack them and be slowed)
3- Prevent ANY player to clear the minions as they are close to the portal.
The last part is the hardest, because.
- From mid-game and later, about any god can clear a wave with 1 ability (except the last minion).
- Minions will always attack somebody instead of going for the portal
Which means agroing them is easy, just go near them, of even summon something near them.
- To protect minions from any attack, you need to block both entrance, unless you know all enemy gods are elsewhere.
- If you are blocking alone, you are in situation of danger and potentially bad positioned.
If you die, you not only failed to let the minions entered, but you also gave 5 tickets.
- If you are blocking as a team, then it is because your team is far ahead the enemy team.
Therefore, letting minions enter will not be the main cause of your victory.
- Finally, if even with all your best intention, they successfully cleared the wave, then you accomplished nothing, both team have scored the same tickets.
So, it is a very complex and risky task, with a high reward (14 net tickets) if successful, but a high cost (0 ticket or -5 if you die) if failed.
So, I would not suggest this strategy for a solo queue player.
They totally ignore the mechanic of the mode, pick any god they want and jump into the fight.
Then, they are calling you noobs if you don't follow them during team fights.
One thing you might forgot in that game is that you probably ended you game with a positive score (like 3-1 or 4-2) when that Bastet had a more balanced score (like 10-9 or 10-10).
In the end, just by her kills and deaths, she gained 5 (or even 0) tickets, while you gained 10.
Even if you don't have a high score, even if you weren't top damage, you still helped you team more than that Bastet and people cannot always understand that.
Finally, while you were right about killing the minions, you should make sure you do it correctly.
First, make sure you last him the minions.
1 shot them with an ability or last hitting them with an auto, it doesn't matter, as long as the enemy minions do not die from your minions.
Second, try to have more last hits than the other team.
For example, if you clear the wave with 1 ability, you score 7 tickets ... great.
But that also means you minions can easily be last hit, so the enemy will also score 7 tickets.
To gain advantage, you should let minions fights as much as possible, and only get the killing blow (like if you were to ks that minion lol)
It is very harder to do, especially when the other team just want to fight, but if you can manage it, it's worth it.
If the game is a tie in the kills, those few last hits will win that game.
I still like arena as a game mode, but people like this ruin it indeed.
let people complaining about why you farming read this this was made by a ranked arena player (rip ranked arena)
Minions are considered more important then a god kill. as one wave is 7 minions meaning 7 tickets. and if you get them into the portal it's another 7 which is 14.
I have seen enough games lost because the enemy was outlast hitting my team as our team ignored the minions and only went for kills. This is also the reason I don't play or like arena any more. because of people like that bastet.
