Yep, you're looking at it right, Chernabog is going to be the next god. After it was announced during the second day of the SWC 2017, HR was set to release two new pantheons one being the Slavic and the other was Voodoo. After a couple of teasers about a Slavic god being the first to show up, nobody knew who it was going to be but all speculated it was going to be Chernabog. From what the post says, it looks like he's going to be a Hunter with great mobility and a powerful ultimate that requires the rest of his kit for the best effect.
While it seems weird they are taking this long to release one god, I have a sneaking suspition that HR is going to release another god this patch from the other Pantheon. With that other god is being Baron Samedi, God of Death and Resurrection, since they both have this evil deathly theme to them and that they both are going to be the first of their pantheon.
What do you think, will Cherabog be OPAF or not. I would like to here someone's two cents on this news and what might come after this.
Personally, it reminds me of a League champion (who, to be fair, was released after I had already quit playing) by the name of Kayn; despite having never actually played against him (see previous set of parentheses), I remember absolutely hating the idea of a champion moving through walls, so I can't say I'm overly excited to see the same being introduced in SMITE.
Disappointed with Chernobog tho. Looks very generic and not menacing at all.
I was also really looking forward to the Slavic pantheon since I have Slavic background, kinda sad that he's a hunter since that's the only class I don't enjoy playing. :(
Amaterasu was released January 2016, yet there are still only six Japanese gods; The Morrigan was released January 2017, yet there are still only four Celts!
By the time Season 6 rolls around, the Slavic pantheon will probably have only two or three gods in it...
Meanwhile, HiRez releases two Greeks in a row.
