Freyr is a god that assists his allies on gaining the most of what they can due to his living presence. Freyr a close corners god when in a fight due to his ability kits.
Items possibilities
HP5: Items that provide HP5 will not only keep Freyr in the fight for a bit longer but his allies as well due to his Brilliant Summer ability which heals gods equal to Freyr's current HP5. So items like Sovereignty or Stone of Gaia will make sure that Freyr's allies benefit more from his Brilliant Summer.
Cooldown: Having items that provide cool down will be essential in order for frequent uses of Freyr's abilities especially his Fertile Lands, so you can create a massive fertile patches in your lane.
Defenses: Generally a need for any Guardian but for Freyr it is more important, since Freyr passive only works when he is alive along with his Fertile Land Patches. Items like Gaunlet of Thebes and Sovereignty will help along with fulfilling the possible items needs. Speaking of which.
Health: This is also a highly needed thing as well, not only to keep you in the fight but also to make you more difficult to simply get rid off and ruin Freyr's passive. Gauntlet of Thebes is a good option along with the possible Stone of Gaia depending on the situation of course.
Magical Power: Frankly this category is not a priority but still a must have, due to the fact that sometimes a good defense is a good offense. Items like Warlocks Staff, Void Stone and Tyrannical Plate Helm will help you to be that pesky semi un-killable over powered guardian that players both hate and love.

Ability Discussion
Ability 1: Brilliant Summer / Moderate Winter is Freyr's healing, buffing and slow ability. Combine this with his third ability The Antler of Freyr and stay close to an enemy they will take considerable damage and be slowed as long as they stay in range. Yes this ability does switch on each casting similar to Arthur's.
Ability 2: Fertile Lands creates Fertile Patches as long as Freyr and his allies are within this will make it a little harder for enemies to harm allies, and make it so that the enemies have to focus on you rather then them. Due to the extra HP5 granted this helps Brilliant Summer's healing ability, it makes it even harder for enemies to pin you down, they will have two choices 1. Go after the allies and get rooted. 2. Attack Freyr who is healing himself, getting hit by allies and being slowed.
Ability 3: The Antler of Freyr, this ability enhances Freyr's attacks and offers a stun if used again before the duration is up. If combined with Brilliant Summer / Moderate Winter and if Freyr has a decent amount of magical power. This will make Freyr a walking hugging spiked wall, which will annoy the enemy team and possibly deal considerable damage ti squishy gods.
Ability 4: The Peace of Freyr is a good ability to start a fight with, especially around mid to late game due to the disarm which will provide a time for allies to take advantage off. Though there is a way for enemies to dodge this, that is by jumping over into an area already cleared of the waves of peaceful energy.
Ability Combos (Pretty explanatory)
Honestly I named most of them in the discussion section of the abilities. But the combo with the ultimate can work in two ways: One use it as a way to start a fight. Two use it during the middle of it to end the fight (preferably when a few other ultimates have gone off).
