Hundun

The Primordial Chaos

"For he is eternal, and through his eternal presence, chaos will always thrive."

PROS: High Sustain, High Crowd Control

Lore:

A being as obscure as the primordial role he embodies, Hundun is an entity often associated with the World Egg, a symbol of creation and chaos, manifested through the image of a faceless ovoid-shaped avian creature.

Hundun was present in this realm of existence millennia before humanity ever existed, being a herald of true chaos. His current incarnation represents his altered form after the creation of the universe and the aid of his celestial brethren, who out of mercy for the blind creature, decided to remodel his appearance by giving him facial features. His true shape before the existence of humanity resembled that of a fur-covered egg, with two pairs of wings and three pairs of legs, being gifted after the presumed creation of the universe by his astral family. However this gift was also Hundun's downfall, as all the changes done to him were way too much for this celestial being to handle, rendering him deceased. After his reincarnation, Hundun adapted his image by accepting the usage of a mask that connects with his pairs of wings so that he is able to manifest his unrelenting will with much more ease.

Hundun is regarded as a being of chaos, however, he does not seem to truly understand what chaos is, trying in different ways to shift the balance of reality through methods only a careless child could replicate, ending up usually being more useful than a pain for those who he fights alongside with. Or, the other way around, no one can ever be fully certain.

Hundun is loved by those who seek chaos and misfortune, the god reciprocating that sentiment by willing to proudly aid those who always thrive on being no-do-gooders rather than allying with those who want to bring peace and stability to this plane of reality. He is and will always be a manifestation of pure chaos, never caring for the outcome of any encounter as long as he gets to have fun through inflicting madness and uncertainty.

Passive Ability

Astral Imbalance
Hundun permanently focuses on shifting the balance of the universe, trying to hold a constant presence of chaos through his foes and allies. All enemy gods caught in this passive's range and that are also in Hundun's line of sight receive a different debuff every 8s, while allied gods receive a different buff, also cycling every 8s. Additionally, for every god under the effect of Hundun's passive, Hundun gains +2 HP5 and MP5, capped at +10 HP5 and MP5.
  • Range: 140

Buffs Applied:
  • Cycle 1: Physical and Magical Penetration: +5%
  • Cycle 2: Crowd Control Reduction: +10%
  • Cycle 3: Physical and Magical Lifesteal: +5%
  • Cycle 4: HP5 and MP5: +5

Debuffs Applied:
  • Cycle 1: Slow: 5%
  • Cycle 2: Crowd Control Reduction: -10%
  • Cycle 3: Physical and Magical Lifesteal: -5%
  • Cycle 4: Attack Speed: -10%

Notes:
  • Both buffs and debuffs are randomly cycled on each shift, however, the same buff/debuff will not occur consecutively. Each other buff/debuff has a 33% chance to occur when the current buff/debuff cycles.
  • Hundun is immune to this passive, meaning that any Hundun will not be affected by either the buff or the debuff part of this passive. The only way Hundun can benefit from this passive is through the usage of his second ability: Infuse Chaos. The Morrigan's ultimate will replicate Hundun's passive, however, in case she copies an allied Hundun, the buffs/debuffs applied will not stack if it happens for both gods to currently have the same effect active. If The Morrigan has a different effect from Hundun active, they will both be applied.
  • Gods affected by this passive have a wisp like particle circling around them.

Primary Abilities

1
Mind Breaker
Hundun concentrates on breaking the mind of his enemies before him, throwing two arching projectiles from his wings forward, damaging any enemy the projectiles pass through. If an enemy is hit by both projectiles, they are Crippled for a short duration, they take 40% more damage from this ability and they are cursed to have any of the debuffs applied through Astral Imbalance be doubled in power for a short period. Hundun is also healed for 5% of his maximum Health if a target is hit by both projectiles.
  • Damage: 60/100/140/180/220 (+25% of your Magical Power)
  • Ability Type: Line Special
  • Cripple Duration: 1.5s
  • Curse Duration: 4/4/5/5/6s
  • Cooldown: 14s
  • Cost: 70/75/80/85/90 mana
  • Max Range: 70
During Unfathomable Visions, both projectiles return to Hundun, giving him a Crippling aura around him that affects enemy gods.
  • Duration: 4s
  • Range: 12/13/14/15/16

Notes:
  • During Unfathomable Visions, the returning projectiles do not deal damage and they do not apply any effects on targets they pass through on their way back.
  • Ability has the same type of targeting like Kali's 2nd ability.
2
Infuse Chaos
Hundun focuses on the endless chaos applied through Astral Imbalance, replicating the current buff offered to allies on himself, doubled in power. After the buff duration expires, his current cycled debuff is also applied to Hundun, doubled in power. Additionally, Hundun's abilities deal 15% more damage while under the effect of the debuff.
  • Ability Type: Stim
  • Buff Duration: 4/5/6/7/8s
  • Debuff Duration: 4s
  • Cooldown: 15s
  • Cost: 60/65/70/75/80 mana

Notes:
  • This ability does not have any effect on the damage Hundun might inflict through death during Unfathomable Visions, meaning that his passive buff applied does not empower his ultimate.
3
Primordial Sweep
Hundun quickly ascends and then delivers a frontal sweep towards his foes, damaging and Slowing enemies hit. If Hundun passes through an allied god while using this ability, he gets empowered. If the current debuff applied through Hundun's passive is Slow, any target hit by Primordial Sweep will also be Rooted for a brief moment.
  • Damage: 50/65/80/95/110 (+30% of your Magical Power)
  • Ability Type: Dash
  • Range: 55
  • Slow: 15/20/25/30/35%
  • Slow Duration: 3s
  • Root Duration: 0.5s
  • Magical Power: 20/25/30/35/40
  • Buff Duration: 4s
  • Cooldown: 18/18/16/16/15s
  • Cost: 60/70/80/90/100 mana
During Unfathomable Visions, Hundun may recast this ability a second time after the first usage in order to perform a second sweep. Any enemy god hit by the first sweep will be Stunned if they are hit by the second one.
  • Stun Duration: 1/1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4s

Notes:
  • Hundun is Crowd Control immune while dashing but is not Crowd Control immune while making his ascension for the dash.
  • The Magical Power buff duration is refreshed when the ability is used a second time while in his ultimate form, even if Hundun doesn't hit an allied god with his dash.
  • Hundun has 4 seconds available to recast the ability during Unfathomable Visions.

Ultimate Abilities

4
Unfathomable Visions
Hundun ascends past his own potential power, willing to send the world into a state of permanent madness. The current buff applied through his passive is locked in and is doubled in power, lasting for as long as Hundun is in his empowered state. This effect applies to any allied god within 140 range, Hundun's line of sight requirement is ignored. While in his ultimate form, Mind Breaker and Primordial Sweep are empowered and Hundun also gains bonus Magical Power. If Hundun dies while under the effects of Unfathomable Visions, ALL gods that were in range of his passive effect at the moment of death take an initial damage burst followed by a short-period ticking damage debuff that also applies his current cycled debuff at the moment of death, doubled in power.
  • Duration: 12/13/14/15/16s
  • Ability Type: Stim
  • Magical Power: 10/20/30/40/50
  • Damage on death: 100/125/150/175/200 (+20% of your Magical Power)
  • Damage per tick on death: 6/9/12/15/18 (+10% of your Magical Power)
  • Duration of damage per tick on death: 4/4/5/5/6s
  • Cooldown: 110s
  • Cost: 120 mana

Notes:
  • Allied gods potentially killed by the death of Hundun during his ultimate do not give any sort of reward. Their death duration is also halved.
  • The damage on Hundun's death applies to any god within the passive's range. The line of sight requirement is not accounted for.

Build Recommendation

Hundun is a typical Guardian with a gameplay min-maxing mostly revolving around the perfect usage of his passive through his 2nd ability and his Ultimate. For this reason CDR is one of the recommended stats that should be bought on him as his passive does not offer him or any other gods any CDR through any of the buff cycles, and being able to use his 2nd ability as much as possible can offer him a stat and damage increase that would equivalate to almost having another item in his build. Crowd Control Reduction is a stat that can be ignored for max efficiency while fulfilling the Guardian role, Hundun being able to buff himself before engaging at the right moment with 20% CCR. Since the passive itself is a massive aura buff and debuff, it would be even more chaotical for him to roll with items with Aura effects. Hundun's abilities do not offer him any defensive stat bonuses, so it is recommended to build him more defensively than offensively. This lack of defensive options should be barely counter-balanced by his potential to buff himself with a hefty amount of lifesteal.

God and Gameplay Vision

Hundun's personality is that of a joker and a youthful being, his voicelines are supposed to reflect his foolish side while also remembering the player that he is ready to inflict mayhem when needed.

Hundun is a combination between the likes of Chronos and a typical Guardian, having a passive with a lot of potential for min-maxing and uncertain results during an engage and the toolkit with enough crowd control to change the outcome of a fight. Hundun is not the type of Guardian to be always gap-closing the enemy until he enters his Ultimate state, ultimate which offers him a lot of close quarters advantages through his abilities. He has the advantage of a long range cripple and a long-range gap-closer for the situation where he does not have his Ultimate available so he is able to secure kills easily. His pacing mostly revolves around perfect timing to engage specific gods based on their vulnerabilities.

Additional Notes

This entry was made for the Halloween contest as the first entry I've made on the website. While the exact Halloween theme is not met by making a scary god concept (being so little you can choose from while keeping it original), I decided to pick making something which is supposed to have an obscure shape as his depiction, with his toolkit revolving around misfortune or fortune, similar to the idea of trick or treating.
