Am I the only one who thinks Anubis is kind of Underrated and people like to label him as not a good choice just because he dies fast and has no escapes?
I feel like just beacuse he has no escape and dies fast doesn't mean people should just label Anubis as not worthy to be in tournaments ect.

When I play Anubis as a mage I feel like Anubis holds up a gaint poster that says
"**** with me get your face melted off" then when his CC is down he drops his poster.
But then brings his poster back up when he has his CC. Anubis feels like a god that you have fear of even being near but yet people underrate him so much?

Anubis has to have the most burst if not one of the most burst out of all the mages in the game. Not only that but Anubis CC makes easy kills for your team mates to jump on unlike other mages who can't even match the CC Anubis has.

Also Anubis can stop ganks from happening on him, anubis can very easily CC any melee god ganking him and possibly melt them 100-0hp and let them no that its a no no to gank him while he is aware.

_____________

He is not picked for two reasons
Low defense
No escape

But he can
Zone with grasping hands
CC from long range and secure kills
And melt people 100-0 in one combo

____________

What if :
They allowed Anubis's 1 to be non stationary, meaning you can walk around while casting his 1 meaning you can chase with it while still having the no knockback effects while its being casted.

It could help him be more played, Anubis cannot chase you with anything or keep damage on you if you are not CC'd. So I was wondering what it would be like to have Anubis able to walk around with his 1 so he can at least chase targets that run and keep damage on them.

I just thought of something, what if while you cast his 1 you gain movement speed, then he would be a viable pick.

I like to label him a bad choice because his skills require him to stay stationary. He is extremely dependant on his CC and if he hits (and you beads or cleanses) he usually starts his skill-chain anyway and become stationary.

He has a zoning skill, Grasping Hands, but most, if not all, mid gods do, and usually with a better overall kit. Also his ultimate is a 1v1 melter while most other (mid) magic gods have an ult that does epic damage and also have utility, like a knock up. It's more bang for your buck.

A melee vs Anubis should know to buy beads and if not keep distance untill his mummify is down, mummify is also pretty easy to juke, since you know 9/10 Anubis' initiate with it, and anubis basicly telegraphes it.

Anubis is fine, but he is obsolete compared to other magic gods and therefore barely if at all picked for competitive matches. And not only because he lacks an escape or defense but because of all above mentioned and probably other reasons.
That's just my 2 cents.

Oy! Give me some privacy.

*sigh* Power creep sucks ***. It seems easier just to buff the older gods, but how? For gods like Anubis, their main weakness is an integral part of the god's design.

I kind of think that Anubis can win most 1v1's when his CC is up.... and who cares if they beads it because their beads is on a much longer CD then your almost 10 sec CC.

Well lets put it this way... for some reason when I am Anubis I feel that anyone facing me is pretty dumb.. meaning that nobody can beat me besides a few people.. or until me CC is gone.

Anubis' kit has some weaknesses, but he's still capable of winning most lanes 1 v 1. He's not played competitively because he's the easiest god to gank in the game. In addition to no escape, his only skill that helps him escape a little is a hard to hit single target spell that stuns for a little over a second for most of the laning phase. You landed your wrap on the jungler? Okay, the other person in lane now has a free shot on you, you can't fight back with damage because you'll root yourself, and the jungler will be back in a second anyway. Missed your wrap? Bye.

Anubis is really good in casual conquest because most junglers aren't that good, or just don't focus the easy targets like they should. Get into the top levels though and Anubis can't do anything but sit in tower against a well coordinated team. It's tough to do a lot from that position.

I'm not sure how to make Anubis more viable since rooting and doing massive single target damage is kind of his calling card. He was pretty good when combat blink was on a 120 second cooldown...

In my experience, a lot of his weaknesses vanish when Anubis jungles. The narrower lanes make hitting with his Mummify an almost certainty, and he is much less likely to get into 2 v 1 fights. Just something to consider.
