I recently became aware that I am apparently one of the very few people that don't play Smite with a keyboard. Coming from console games originally, when I got my gaming laptop instead of getting a nice keyboard (my laptop's keyboard is basically chiclet) I got a Razer Tartarus. So I'm curious if anyone else uses something like this or other alternative control types?

Does smite actually support controllers aside from the xbox version? I've actually tried the xbox version since I got an alpha code and I have to say I'm not a fan of the controller. Mouse targeting is simply better for abilities and aiming shots and whatnot.

and as for how to hold it...

It's not that complcated lol

I play on PC, and I use the Logitech version of the Tartarus, the G13.

Logitech G13 Advanced Gameboard It goes on sale pretty regularly on Amazon for as low as $40 or so, and if you've got extra money, I think it's absolutely worth it.

I now use this for any over-the-shoulder or 1st person shooter type of game (Battlefield, Counterstrike, TF2, etc.). Here's how I use it, and why I feel it's the better solution for me.

Movement is all on the little thumb stick. Consider that you only go one direction at a time. Why waste 3 fingers (sometimes having to use 2 at the same time for diagonal movement), when these same 3 fingers are also commonly used for skills and everything else???

This is amazing to free up my individual fingers for their respective abilities.

Ability 1 = S key location (ring)
Ability 2 = D key location (middle)
Ability 3 = F key location (index)
Ultimate = G key location (stretch index)

Skill leveling for each ability is the key directly above. Actives are where X and C would be. I've got consumables as scroll wheel left/right on my Logitech G700 mouse.

The biggest detriment to not using a standard keyboard is the SMITE VGS system. I can do some basic VGS with the way I set it up (anything with letters as far right as Y, H, B), but no numbers. That's not a huge problem, since I really only play Assault and don't need to call out left/middle/right lanes. I guess I could work on programming those in somehow, but haven't felt the need to, so far.

Keep in mind, the first couple of weeks I started using the keypad, it was a pretty big learning curve for my long-ingrained WASD movement. But now, I just can't see myself going back.

Would be interested to see if anyone that doesn't currently have one will now try it, and what they think!

my setup is pretty similar. Just for ease of memory, the tartarus has 3 rows of 5 letters so I set them to

QWERT
ASDFG
ZXCVB

so that if I forgot what one was at first I could just look at my keyboard for memory. I do think having all the movement on your thumb is a huge plus though, especially since it's basically your most useless digit when playing on a keyboard. As for the VGS, I can play conquest and make calls pretty fast because my mouse has 4 buttons and I mapped three of them to 1, 2 and 3. The only call that I've had trouble with is "enemy incoming __" since I don't have a button set to I, but my computer has macros so I just bound some keys to it.

I still play the original way (also didn't notice the tumb stick). As I also learned myself smartcast (the cast on release) on smite. IMO It doesn't affect my movement that much (because in dota it doesn't affect my damage on combos when you need to use an item ability item item ability etc. it only affects my damage output when I put the items in the wrong spots XD).

and my brother has his abilities set up on his mouse XD.

And I do believe you can use multiple controllers. Only xbox xontrollers are the easiest controllers to connect to your pc (when you use wireless controllers)
