Hey again guys,
Since you know a lot of the game, I think you could help me with a quick question. Also, if this is not the place for this kind of post please forgive me and tell me where should I post.

So I was wondering wich one of the two avobe should I generally buy. Which one is the better item? And in wich map: Arena or Conquest? I would appreciate your help.

Stone of Gaia is more for sustian where Bulwark is more for instant damage mitigation

Basically, if you plan on taking hits but not dying then Stone of Gaia is better.

If you think you are facing a bursty team that will kill you in like 2 seconds then Bulwark.

Lets pretend you are up against someone like Chronos...

If the Chronos only pokes you with his 1 time rift then stone of Gia is better.

Because he will poke you and take like 1/4 of your health down... but if hes not fighting you the regen from stone of Gaia will bring up back up to full health allowing you to sustain health in lane, so it doesn't matter if he pokes you, because you will keep gaining your health back if its not a continued fight.

If you are facing a God like Poseidon bulwark is better, because Poseidon will kill you in one combo where as Chronos really doesn't....

Bulwark has a tiny bit less magical protections but thats not why its better, its better because Gods who spam all their abilities on you will have 50% of that damage reduction. Meaning if he ults you only 50% of that damage happens thus you would survive the combo whre normally if you had stone you wouldn't survive.

Also bulwark gives you more heatlh, so that means you take more hits from physical gods as well. The passive shields you from both magical and physical burst attacks.

BUT

in fights where you want to last longer in lane STONE is better.

If you are the type that gets poked then you retreat STONE will let you regen more HP back, and give you more mana to stay in lane.

Bulwark is better if you are worried about getting killed by a bursty God like Loki who can just ult you then kill you, Bulwark will save you from that.

But if you keep getting poked you wont be able to sustain as well.

So you take your pick.

If you want to last in lane longer, get stone

If you are more worried about not getting killed by Gods and their combos get Bulwark.

so stone gives us a bit more magic protections, a bit of health, and hp5 and mp5. Also it gives us 2% of our max health every 5 seconds. While bulwark gives us a bit less magical protections but tons of health. His passive gives us a shield once every 60 sec, if we drop below 25% hp. It reduces damage taken by 50% for 1 second.

From this 2 I usually choose Stone. It gives more survivability in long teamfights by regenerating health. Also it gives more magical protections.

By basic stats bulwark is pretty good too. It gives tons of health and that is good for tank, but i don't like its passive. It is very unreliable. Sometimes it might pop out in a very good moment and sometimes not.

So in a few words : I usually choose Stone of Gaia. I buy it both in conquest and arena.

P.S
I don't think that this is problem, but i recommend you put such threads in Theory Crafting section ^^ ;)

Ok then I got it, so probably most of the time I'll end up picking Stone of Gaia because of both your explanations. Then again, if I'm Ares.. should I pick Pestilence instead (because of my passive) or get Stone of Gaia or Bulwark of Hope anyway?

I don't usually play Ares, but take Pestilence if there are healers in enemy team. As a tank i don't usually prioritize Ares' passive. So if there are healers - take it, but if there are not there are better items for magical protections.

Take bulwark if they're a burst team (like scylla or anubis or such), or take stone of gaia if they're a sustain damage team (like ra or zhong kui or chang'e)

Or conversely, get both.

I have tried out both but I feel im loosing on the Phys Prot a lot with that. BUT, I didnt know about what ICEN told me about Bulwark's passive triggering on Physical abilities too so that works really well against assasins. Before I made this thread I picked Bulwark of Hope every time, but now I feel I prefer Stone of Gaia a lot more. Plus it works wonders with Hercules, Chaac and Vamana. With that said, I dont find myself building Runic Shield ever on Warriors now.
