Friend played smite at my house and loved it so much he bought the god pack and went home to download it. A week later he still hasn't been able to play it.
EVERY SINGLE TIME the game finishes downloading it just instantly starts downloading itself from 0% again. I have tried EVERYTHING. I have uninstalled it a dozen times, ran the validate in troubleshoot, completely uninstalled the game and smite, ran registry cleaner, WE WENT OUT LAST NIGHT AND BOUGHT A NEW HARDDRIVE AND A FRESH COPY OF WINDOWS INSTALLED TO IT WITH NOTHING BUT GRAPHICS DRIVERS INSTALLED, and it still KEEPS JUST REDOWNLOADING ITSELF.
I have DISABLED the Windows firewall, there IS NO ANTIVIRUS, there are no PORTS TO BE OPENED, but the game WONT STOP REDOWNLOADING ITSELF.
Over a week now and having probably used over 200gb of data downloading the game 50 times this **** still doesn't work and we're both tired of playing with it. HOW in the HELL can we fix it?

Just got done installing it AGAIN this time with the router COMPLETELY BYPASSED (computer straight in to modem) and still same thing.

First of less caps. Second of is it plugged in? Jk

Smite fire is a communty run website. There may be a few people here we can give you some tips but if you are looking for help from hirez you need to go to reddit.

Try to check what smite can and can't run on is the basic start. Try uninstall smite completly and rinstall it.

And captain hignsite says that your friend should have first made sure his coputer could run the game before buying stuff on it.
never forget dawngate and never forgive EA. Freia will hunt them for eternity.

I think I MIGHT know what you are talking about since I had a similar problem a few times on my other laptops before. For some reason only certain laptops was doing it.

I'm not sure if this is what you were going through but this is what would happen to me sometimes.

I would open smite and it would download, when finished it would download again BUT the reason is because for SOME REASON its not starting from the more recent patches and when I would check the version its downloading I would notice it would be like 5 versions earlier basically meaning its going to download 5 damn times before it works because instead of downloading all the patches at once its downloading them version by version which I have no clue why.

Basically lets say the NEWEST version of smite was called V.10 and lets say that V = version and 10 means that its the 10th update.

So what would happen is when the game downloads I would notice it would say V.5 then when it downloads it would download all over again and this time it would say V.6 then v.7 ect until it reaches the most recent download V.10

Basically I don't understand why my smite was not downloading ALL THE PATCHES at once instead of downloading them version by version.

I don't know if this happened to you but this happened to me on a few occasions.

The only thing I did was keep uninstalling it and I think I was messing around with the option box when you open up the smite launcher.

There should be something in one of the top corners that you can click on and it will pop up things like CHECK FOR NEWEST VERSION or some **** like that.

If I remember correctly I was doing a few things until it worked.
#1 uninstall then re-install a few times if that doesn't work try #2
#2 When you open up the launcher go through the option boxes and click on things like find newest version or what ever it says.

#3 Sometimes I would just keep opening and re-closing the launcher.

Sorry, but a week of putting up with him *****ing about it not working (and not realize it's just as annoying for me to have to keep trying different things and waiting) has not left me in the happiest mood.

Since you apparantly didn't read my post fully, we have fully uninstalled and reinstalled many times along with installing on a BRAND NEW INSTALL of windows that had only THE GAME AND VIDEO DRIVERS installed.

And I'm pretty sure his AMD Phenom 965 (Quad core 3.4ghz) GTX 560 and 8GB of RAM can run the game just fine.

I'm not an idiot, rather I'm a computer technician by career, and know what I'm doing, and that's why I'm dumbfounded by the problem. Nothing makes sense at all.

And the first thing I DID was post in the smiteBUGS subreddit and the only response was "Did you try searching it and using this result?" which I tried about 4 days ago.

but is your game doing what it did to me, meaning when your game is downloading is it downloading the latest version or is it downloading previous versions of the game and working its way up?

It is constantly redownloading the newest version. Checked the error log and it basically says it has downloaded it, then during the very first check, something failed to verify and it redownloads completely.

Anyone figured out the problem yet? I have been in the same loop for the past 4 days. It's been a real pain cause I have to install over night (the internet here is really slow).
