I was curious how everyone thinks all the balancing of characters, items, etc is compared to a game like league of legends?

My friend, who only played earlier beta of smite, and currently plays league, said that there are many balancing issues he saw.

Granted I don't like league at all, I was wondering what he meant. I know they play differently, and I think that's not a bad thing.

Considering this is the longest beta ever, I'm hoping they accomplish what they want to with the game, and so far I love it. LOL's camera, controls, maps, and lack of more game modes are the reasons I really don't like that game.

ALSO, how is the population? Do you see the game going up or down hill in the next year?

I'd hate to really get into this game and then it dies off really quickly, or they developers stop caring and move on to something else.

Personally I think SMITE is much more balanced than most other MOBAs. I'll admit that plenty of gods need to be tweaked to become relevant again, but for the most part they're alright (though I think gods like Ao need a nerf or something, I see way too many Ao Kuangs and so few other mages. Same with some of the melee gods as well.)

Items could use some more work, but again they're pretty decent if a little...boring, for lack of a better word. Not enough items are unique enough for players to choose them over what everyone else is using.

Population is fairly large, not too sure on exact numbers. Obviously not as large as LoL or Dota 2, but still fairly large by online standards.

Sasquatch, what level games are you playing? I see few Ao Kuangs and I am one of them! There are much more played mages than Ao, especially in Ranked games where those players consider Ao to be a lower-rank God.

This game is nowhere near as balanced as you think. The Gods clearly are at different levels of balance and Hi-Rez takes little to no effort to balance them. Neith, the most overpowered God in the game, has never been nerfed nor have they tried. Why? I believe that it's because she is the standard for powerful Gods, so they keep her as she is to pull players in. I suspect that they will nerf her, but only when they get as many players out of her as they can. The same goes for the other OP Gods.

As for the items, I admit that there are some items like Demonic Grip that OVERPOWER THE **** out of Gods that it is viable on (ex. Freya, Chronos, and Zeus). Some items are barely used, but are excellent and underrated (such as Midgardian Mail). The items themselves are not in a state of imbalance, but rather have preferences depending on the Gods themselves.

The population is continuously growing, and unfortunately much of that growth comes from the influx of LoL players. Many of them, to be honest, are complete douchebags who try to impose their LoL meta onto Smite and enjoy *****ing and moaning like, well, *****es. I am not fond of them, obviously.

I don't really care about balance as long as I'm having fun. ex. Playing an OP god and owning everyone. :D

Well to be completely honest it does have balancing issues, the company Hirez is quite bad at balancing their games I heard but they are new to the gaming industry so they might get better.

Anyway it's true that some gods are more reliable then some, just hope for Hirez to get better at balancing this out. I'm not really upset much on how everything is right now but I do want for some gods to be nerf with certain skills like Poseidon's whirlpool crippling people to their deaths(I know I can use aegis but I still think it's for the best).

Poseidon's Whirlpool is useless without that cripple, and henceforth it will never be removed. Ever.

Can we please stop singling out gods and declare them the most OP in the game as if there's a general consensus on it? Neith's powerful yet generally not banned/first pick. I don't really hear a lot of people pointing to her over other powerful gods either, so going around proclaiming her OP-ness can quickly give new/unknowing players the impression that the community in general has a rather different opinion than what is actually the case.

I'd also like to point out that I find it very hard to agree that it's possible to overpower the **** out of Zeus no matter what you build on him.

Personally, I'd say balance could definitely be better but it might be a tad better than most people think. I occasionally see players in tournaments or other high level games pick gods I view as weak/underpowered and perform exceedingly well with them, despite the quality of their opponents and their more standard picks. This is probably at least in part due to people having less experience dealing with gods like this than the normal ones, but it is impressive and interesting nonetheless.

Useless? Really jararo. A great lane pushing tool with high tick damage and unlike similar abilities a vortex instead of a slow, works great with his ult and with gem of your just nevergettingoutofthis.

Really if i would nerf pos i would take the cripple off or i would take the slow of of his ult and reduce his damage.

Well thats not true if I would nerf him i would take all his cc of as well as a huge chunk if his damage. Because i hate poseidon and i would laugh maniaclly if that happend.

BUT if i was a normal human being i would nerf him with option 1.

All4, I bet that if Whirlpool didn't have Cripple then it would be easy to escape. I think when he was released that was the case, along with a weaker pull and it was so underpowered. It was laughable, really.

The cripple was added on later for that reason. I think even the damage was buffed, I would have to look through that patch to find out.

As for you, Kripox. You must admit, she is UNGODLY overpowered. That doesn't mean that she will be played often, though. I, personally, find her to be too easy because of her OP-ness, and as such isn't too fun to play.

then ao's tornado would also need a cripple as well as anubis his zombie hands (maybe ra's solar blessing). because they are incredibly easy to avoid on there own. i can leap, dash, movement buff and just simply walk out of them with out a care in the world

cripple is something that doesn't allow you to dash and leap. well since then there have been a good amount of gods with out a leap or dash in the competitive scene. there are not that many gods with a leap or a dash.

i think pos his kiddy pool is to strong it simply does to much. it cripple's, it does a ton of damage, it pulls you in which is way worse then a slow and you might as well say that it has a slow because iso is an item you see on EVERY poseidon.

really i doupt pos will lose a lot without a cripple.
