The other boards are pretty dead dating back like 2 days ago at least so i thought I'd ask here.

I'm wondering if I could get some pointers (not just build guides) about playing Mercury, how to be relevant in a match (arena or domination) and rack up as many kills as I can.

Also curious if Mercury would often be behind or get killed easily even when played well.

I'm coming from mastery of Loki and Thanatos so, I'm wondering about the power differences.

Above all though, I'm curious as to how fun he is to play for long stretches, as I would want to get mastery if I forked out to buy him.

Because if he's really not as good at what he's supposed to do (assassin) then I'll end up taking my favor/gems elsewhere.

I find that the best (in my opinion) way to play Mercury is to be a pain in the *** to every single member of the enemy team.

Use your 1 like you'd use He Bo's Spout: use it to poke enemy gods (aim for the squishier ones more than the bruisers and tanks. That damage is gonna keep adding up unless they have a reliable heal, potions only do so much after all.), use it to damage/clear most of the minion wave, use it while chasing/running, use it while in a fight with an enemy (most of your fights are gonna have you circling around them, so unless they'e fast a majority of the time they'll be hit by it just due to how close you are.), etc...

Basically do not let up with it, make sure your enemies will hate you for it.

For his 2 use it mainly after tossing someone behind you, during fights where you have to outburst the enemy (or die trying, because if nothing else hopefully you'll get them low enough for a teammate to finish them off or force them to back off), when your absolutely sure you'll be able to get close and lay the smackdown on an enemy. It could also be used to quickly finish off a minion wave (for example: When I need to quickly burst down a wave, I use a combo of my 1 and 2, with my 1 aimed towards the melee minions and using my 2 to burst down the survivors/archers.)

With his 3 be sure to aim for someone you know can be bursted down/dealt a lot of damage to if your using it as a mini-initiator/some other word I can't think of. Another thing to do is use it as a wave clear if you absolutely must. A final thing to do is use it as an interceptor: if you see an ally fleeing from someone, use it to grab the chaser and toss him/her away or into healthier teammates. If you time it right it can also be used as an interruption to stop someone from doing their combo (for example Odin's 1 and 3/4. If you hit him right as he lands you'll be able to either toss him away or into teammates who can burst him down depending on the situation.)

Edit: Forgot to put in to use his 3 as an escape as well, though because its a dash I assume most people (including you) already do so anyway.

For his ultimate there are plenty of uses: As an initiator (assuming you can hit multiple people, as a stun is a stun and most teammates take that as a que to go and attack), as a chase attack (does surprising damage, is nigh unavoidable if they're not fast enough/unsuspecting, and it basically stuns them giving you time to turn around and pound them/let teammates catch up), or an escape (charges quickly and unless you're stunned/popped-up/bursted down they're not gonna be able to stop you from getting away). It could also be used to get from point A to point B quickly, but unless someone on your team is about to die or you're gonna lose an objective I don't recommend using it (better to take a few seconds longer to get where you need to go and have it when you need it.)

Sorry that I can't give much better advice, this is all personal experience so it should be taken with a grain of salt.

No they sound like good tips, I'll definitely try to implement this and see how it goes, thanks :)

Hope you get a match with a sobek, and try to coordinate your Special Delivery and his Charge Prey. It can get real lulzy.

I think Mercury is a cool idea and all but.

Hirez needs to fix his running animations,

His actual skin (very lackluster compared to other recent releases)

His silver skin's awful card.

AS lots of people on reddit and in matches have said, they dont even notice Mercury is on there team, often thinking he's some sort of minion or boss in the background. lol

And that's a terrible direction for a god. They should really fix him

I want him to start off faster, since he is supposed to be about speed. And I like his look, I think its kinda fitting.

But yeah, his running/walking animation is ugly.

I like Mercurys design. He looks like a roman messenger, which is basically what he is. Also how can you mistake him for a minion when his armor has different color and he is a different size?

Well, I'm sure not being literal, but just his general look is very...background. some basic armor like a minion, etc
