I'd like to get a few of everybody's thoughts on Janus a viable competitive mid laner.

His competitive viability has recently been thrown into question, as he did not make a single appearance at the SWC.

His Pros are obvious: Good lockdown, large AoE nuke, solid dueling potential, good teamfight presence, and extremely strong mobility.

He does lack a lot though. He lacks reliable AE crowd control, where gods like Chronos and Nox excel. His escape can be countered pretty easily by bodyblocking or crippling him, in which case there's very little chance that he will escape. He lacks any sort of pure defensive options, his only defense being banishing himself, which is more of a gimmick than a viable tactic, as a majority of the time, especially when actually running away from people.

That's my take on it.

SmiteFire & Smite

Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat.
