I've scanned the forums, google'd it and searched in the so called Smite Wiki, yet I absolutely cannot find out what cripple is. Is it some kind of slow effect? Why is it not called a slow?

I'm an active player, I played 5-6 matches today already, and nowhere did I see anyting about an effect called "cripple".

Arachne's web has a cripple effect. Basically it makes all movement abilities not work. So you can't jump out of it or dash out etc.

Two more:

1) Does this also affect Sprint and other bought abilites? Can I cleanse this effect with beads and then use sprint, just in case?

2) Does it explicitly state in the description of an ability that it has a cripple effect?
If not, where can I look at the cripple effects up?

1) It only affects abilities and not actives from the explanation.

2) Description says: The web now cripples enemies that are within its radius, preventing movement based abilities from being used.

Here are the patch notes. Just scroll down to Arachne.
