If you managed to get this far, then you're a chad for not demanding a very particular build to save all your games. I'm not a pro, and neither are you probably, so these builds won't make or break the game in the end as much as performance, enemy performance, and ally performance. Can't deal, don't use Anhur support; you WILL get yelled at.
Firstly - Warrior's Axe. Not one I recommend for a full-tank Anhur, but I think fits with a nice specific build involving its late-game upgrade.
Second - Warding Sigil. My go-to if I'm doing standard Anhur support. I'd pick this up if you see a lot of burst-down on the enemy team, especially in their early game.
Third - War Flag. If you get the case of the zoomies and like to fling out autos, this is a good alternative to Warrior's Axe I feel. Better for the lane phase altogether.
Fourth - Tainted Steel. Actually a good pick as you'll probably be picked on to get dived a lot. If you see a lot of potential life-steal or gods that benefit from life steal heavily, pick this up.
Fifthly - Benevolence. Good if you wanna do a standard support start but don't want to be boring and grab Sentinel's Gift.
Lastly - Lono's Mask. If you're paranoid about not being tanky enough (which you should be) you can pick this up. Reason I put Lono and not its first starter is because I don't recommend picking it up right away. Forego the starter until you can afford the full mask, because the drop in damage in the early game isn't worth the tankiness.
Because of this boring goofy ah starter, I will not be featuring it in any builds from hereon.
If you insist on having Sentinel's Gift because you're allergic to fun, just slap it onto any build I present here and it should be fine, just like any support build with Sentinel's Gift.
I consider these items core to all these builds. Most to all of them will feature either Prophetic, Thebes, or both.
Prophetic because it's simply way too brain-dead easy to stack as a hunter support and suits the aggressive style of supporting that Anhur needs to do to be useful.
Thebes because its Thebes. It's hard to argue with 250 health and 65 physical and magical protections.
A mana chalice I found is a must-have for Anhur Support. You are constantly throwing up pillars and impaling into walls and leaping into good positions to pressure the enemy team. Because of this you'll be guzzling mana like no tomorrow. If you don't get a mana chalice, you'll be suffering mana drought until the late game.
Do not underestimate the power of Spectral Armor against a Crit team. Especially on Anhur. As a hunter support, people are less keen on respecting you, and will proc Spectral often with pokes or dives.
Anti-heal as usual.
These are the core items for a build in which you wanna max cooldowns.
Prophetic provides Cooldown reduction and is a Core Item in itself, so don't skip on that. First item.
After a second item, probably a Thebes, get Genji's, then after get a situational item if you need it. Otherwise, build Relic Dagger.
This is the core for a Bruiser Build. Sprinkle in tank items with these and you'll do some decent damage for a support.
For an anti-heal option, I would recommend Toxic Blade if you can afford to be a little squishier. But don't feel pressed to take it, especially if you don't feel confident in your stuns yet. Otherwise, go to a high-health item to maximize the effectiveness of Axe of Animosity.
The goal of this build is to make the enemy proc as many heals on you as possible, and generally increasing your max HP5 to recover quickly.
Tainted Steel I would highly recommend. If you don't have anti-healing fears and you still wanna do this build, Warrior's Axe fits the theme just fine.
These are items I recommend in general to sprinkle into your builds with Anhur Support. These aren't necessarily core items and could squeeze into most of these builds you're making.
Just some glyphs you can expect to pick up as Anhur support.
These are relics in which I recommend, from most to least.
Relics I don't think you should pick up at all will not appear on here.
The goal of Anhur support is to use your 1 to slow enemies and make them easier targets, punish them for over-committing or advancing, or to help allies escape opponents engaging them. He can use his 2 to push enemies back, preferably into walls or into areas where the enemy is forced to reroute or could get finished off by your teammates. Highly recommend you practice your impale stuns a lot and get confident with them. Lastly, his 3 is a knock-up that pushes enemies back in a circle. This can help push enemies around and disorient, or if positioned correctly, knock vulnerable opponents back toward your allies.
You'll be mobile, aggressive, and a risky player to make this work. But when it does work, its tons of fun, both for you and the enemy team whose probably glad they didn't just get another Kumbhakarna or Khepri.
On the flipside of things, your teammates WILL get pissy at you for 'trolling' if you play an Anhur support. Ignore and mute them. Unless you're playing at a pro or diamond level, it really doesn't matter what you play, what matters is performance. If they need your *** to hand-hold them to win a match you were never going to win in the first place; don't let losses or harassment get you down. Playing different role supports isn't against the rules.
Anhur support is a fun flip on how you approach supporting. Although because you're an Anhur, people will not respect you. They'll try to dive you, dump ults on you, and everything. If you play it right, you can twist this to your advantage, soaking and eating ults for breakfast while your allies mop up.
Just make sure to be conservative with impale stuns. Use them to push enemies toward teammates or to chain together lockdown stuns with teammates. Avoid going for willy-nilly stuns as it may disrupt teammate cohesion and cause misses.
