Heimdallr throws his sword, Hofuð, into the air. It shines with brilliant light that reveals enemies within 80 units. Heimdallr can refire this ability to call the sword down, causing it to fly to the target location and damage enemies.

Ability Type: Circle
Damage: 90 / 145 / 200 / 255 / 310 (+85% of your Physical Power)

The Gjallarhorn

2 A
Heimdallr blows the Gjallarhorn for 2s, causing enemies in front of him to lose Movement and Attack Speed while taking damage every .5s. While blowing his horn, Heimdallr is immune to knockups and gains bonus protections. When Heimdallr ends this cast, either through cancelling it himself or after 2s, he raises the Gjallarhorn for a final blast. This blast damages enemies and knocks them away from Heimdallr.

Ability Type: Cone
Damage Per Tick: 8 / 16 / 24 / 32 / 40 (+30% of your Physical Power)
Knockback Damage: 50 / 90 / 130 / 170 / 210 (+60% of your Physical Power)

The Bifrost

3 B
Heimdallr manifests a fragment of the Bifrost at his target location. When two fragments are placed, they become linked, allowing Heimdallr to traverse the Bifrost. The greater the distance between the fragments, the longer it takes to begin traversing, and the longer it takes for it to be usable again. If Heimdallr places a third fragment down, the oldest fragment vanishes. Enemies that walk between two fragments are revealed to Heimdallr.

Ability Type: Circle
Distance Scale: 85 to 700 units
Warmup Scale: 0.8s to 3.5s
Cooldown Scale: 16s to 210 / 180 / 150 / 120 / 90s

4 Y
Heimdallr charges forward, axe ready. If Heimdallr hits an enemy god, he stuns them before unleashing a devastating swing of his axe, launching his target into the sky. A Bifrost portal appears and Heimdallr sends the launched foe through the realms of Muspelheim and Niflheim before returning them back to the battleground at a random location in front of him. Muspelheim burns the enemy every .5s for 1.5s while Niflheim slows the enemy for 2.5s.

Ability Type: Dash
Hit Damage: 120 / 200 / 280 / 360 / 440 (+70% of your Physical Power)

General

I've been messing around with different builds for him ever since he came out and this is the build I ended up with. I've tried full damage, big Crit, full attack speed and a mix of everything. Overall I feel he's better as an auto attack God rather than ability-based but he is still pretty decent if you want to try ability-based. This is the build I use in basically every game mode. It's a little slow at the start but as soon as you hit mid-to-late game this dude is a monster.
I was juggling between attackers blessing and hunters blessing for non conquest games but the mana sustain you get through hunters blessing helps a lot, you don't need Mana pots at all. Plus the extra attack speed you get when it's fully stacked makes a noticeable difference. As for the relics, decide what you want first based upon your opponent and play style. I like to go blink because I tend to play more aggressive and nothing feels better then blinking in and slamming an unsuspecting God to Valhalla at level 5 lol but if you like to play it a little safer and just farm until your leveled up I would suggest starting beads. Also Aegis is nice too because you can use it while you sit in your bi-frost, waiting to teleport.
This build gives a great balance of big damage, survivability and crit chance. It's definitely a hard carry build almost guaranteed top damage if you land your autos. The only downfall to this build is you don't have a lot of health so your biggest enemy is going to be hard CC and burst damage (which is pretty much the same for every non-tanky/ADC God) but he out boxes most gods with his huge damage output and high sustain through the lifesteal % of Asi and the Asi proc. I ended up going with bloodforge for the sixth item (after you sell boots) because the extra lifesteal is nice and the shield you get after you three hit squishys will keep you in team fights. But this is the item that can be changed out for a situational item or more attack speed (Defense/Antiheal/Magi's Cloak/Pen.)
I hope you enjoy this build and have fun yeeting Gods through the Norse realms ;)

Fail-Not but no Deathbringer? Especially since the build is AA-focused you may as well get DB with Fail-Not. There's no Crusher, Heartseeker etc...

I'd swap either bloodforge or ichaival for DB.

I've played him with just about every build that I can think of and I have used deathbringer instead of bloodforge when I was trying to figure out what worked best. The damage output is barely different due to his crit debuff passive (he only gets 70% instead of 100%) but he doesn't really need the extra damage, bloodforge is in there for the extra sustain and blood shield. Fail-not is in the build because it's too good of an item stat-wise to not have, the crit is just a plus. It has over a 2 attack rate so you crit pretty often with just fail-not, especially when it's passive is active. If I would sub bloodforge out for anything it would be a situational item or more attack speed.

I think part of the point is missed here. Sure, the crit debuff does affect him, but DB makes up for some of that with the bonus damage. But the bigger point here is that when you build crit items, you make it more worthwhile when you build enough crit to make it semi-reliable (> 40-50% crit chance is a good number to hit).

Building DB not only increases your crit chance so that you get a significant DPS boost due to higher # of crits, but the passive damage bonus gives you ~15% greater damage when you do crit.

Note in the chart, your statement on DB of "the damage output is barely different due to his crit debuff passive" isn't accurate, unless you're applying that DB consideration to ALL hunters. If you take the difference in DB crit damage vs. regular crit damage, the % is about the same. They had to debuff his crit just to keep him somewhat in line...the 1.3/1.3/1.5 damage/AS progression was way too advantageous for crits. That crit debuff doesn't mean it's not functional for him, and in fact, it is actually quite strong.

You DO have partial points on BF (getting it for the shield) and Fail-Not (yes, the stats are solid). On the point of adding BF for the extra sustain, if the enemy builds anti-heal, the investment in BF for that part of the stats is significantly less helpful.

Still, in the end, I do feel that if you invest in 1 crit item, it's almost always best to invest in 2.
