Information

Hey all. I've been really into Thanatos since he came out. I was sad to see that all the builds for him on smitefire are really bad. This is by no means a guide (I hope to make one someday) but for now I want your oppinions on my build that has seemed to work for me thus far.

Before everyone starts commenting, let me break it down. The bumba's mask and Hog are pretty self explanatory. Heartseeker because well it's good =D Additionally, the movement speed after you get this and boots is invaluable for getting in, and out fast.

Ok, now onto the REAL explanation. Ninja's Tabi because you need to spam your 1 to relive pressure off of lanes, and successfully gank. It is your most powerful, but hardest to land move and you need to spam it on gods and not miss. Why not Ninja's Tabi? With his 2 at level 5 plus Titian's Bane I'm fairly certain that you are at or past the penetration cap. Then you get Hydras Lament for burst damage and more cooldown reduction. Thanatos is about BURST DAMAGE. You miss his abilities, you lose. Next is Titain's bane for CHEAP and STEEP penetration. Deathbringer and rage for added power and attack speed.

I've tried light, and heavy lifesteal builds and they don't work. Bloodforge and eye are good, but they are too expensive. Plus with tons of lifesteal your basic attacks don't do enough damage to heal your glass bones as you are the squishiest of the squish.

Ive noticed that almost no one uses the brawler's beat stick with thanatos which is really a shame.

I added bloodforge for very late game lifesteal. I noticed that very late game, thanatos is kind of snuffed out too fast. The insane lifesteal from bloodforge greatly helps.

I disagree with the complete lack of lifesteal. With thanatos, if caught out sometimes the only option left is to fight, if you are at low health, and with no support or escape, fighting with a bit of lifesteal can keep you alive, due to his huge damage numbers. Also if youre spamming abilites, you will end up losing a good chunk of your health. Though I dont think more than one item is necessary.

Thanks for your input. I clearly see where you are coming from as I tried the same thing. I tried adding bloodforge/eye before titains bane. No matter what build I do, I still come to the conclusion that Thanados is extremely lacking in a 1v1 siuation. Now, let me elaborate on that a bit. If he get's the drop on someone, his bust damage will leave the other god a melted pile of goop on the floor. This power build would be better in this situation because you would be out damaging the enemey if they fight back, but it's more likely that they run. If they get the drop on you, you need to run. Lifesteal or not, you have glass bones. If you see eachother at the same time, it is definately an uphill battle and you need to play smart, dodging abilities and carefully landing your one for sure. Lifesteal would help with mages, but with AD gods, who also have lifesteal (all of them) meleeing them would be inefficent, and they would win for sure. Bakasura 1v1 is probably your greatest enemy followed by arachne.

And just for the sake of it, where and when would you add in lifesteal? It's tricky because you don't want it super late game, but heartseeker, ninja's and hydra's are very important to this build. As is penetration. Bloodforge/eye are expensive as well.

Before you call the other Thanatos builds "bad", I suggest that you explain why your build is better. You have a SMALL amount of that, but you also have a "get this because it is good" thing going on here.

So, in order to show your build's "superiority", make an actual items section explaining each item. Otherwise, your build looks like every other build that has been added for Thanatos.

First of all, let me just thank you for saying absolutely nothing constructive, it's very much appreciated. Second, I think we all know why heartseeker is good, it give power and movement speed. If you didn't know, there is a mouseover info on all items, check it out.

Additionally, I made this to explain my build, not other peoples'. And no, I am not making an items section because I stated very clearly that this is NOT a guide. This also means that I will not be makign a skills section.
