They allow people to get into the game before you! If your computer is that bad, you may be upwards of a minute late to lane! A minute is only a minute, but in Joust or Conquest, that minute means a lot!
That, combined with the recent patch and it's love of dropping people back to the title screen, has made me appreciate LoL's loading screen so much more even though I haven't started it yet.
but I'm not a big fan of the load game after picking. you do get a good overview from who picked whom but it's just slow.
if you take the method dawngate (RIP) loaded it had it's problems too but worked a lot better IMO. Because it loads while picking meaning after the picking pahse you can immediatly play. (the problem it brings is that you need to look at who you are up against and what they had picked for perk)
I even like dota's way better dota loads before picking. and gives a timer 2 min timer when the first person loaded in. if someone doesn;t load it will say the person failed and you end up in hig prio queue. (also gives a bit of the look who the other picked as the game starts right after picking)
I agree, and this has been a big problem, even for people with good PCs (like me). For example, I once had a conquest game where they had full team, and the other 4 of my team had this problem! Therefore, I was level 5 by the time they had gotten into the game! Don't take this as, "Oh, upgrade your computers you filthy peasants!" But more as, "SMITE needs to do something. Badly."
I've been told that it's connection issues, but... that's besides the point... /r/Smite is the worst place sometimes.
