No really who's bright idea was it to give players a 30 minute deserter timer and drop their goodwill from 100 to 0% because they had the audacity to dodge a game where three players instantly locked physical damage assassins(a recipe for a very ****ty game).

Obviously there needs to be some sort of penalty for dodging so people can't just do it all day because they didn't get the roll they wanted but I think the punishment may be a little harsh for the offense. I think it would be more reasonable to start with a 5 min deserter debuff for the first dodge then a 30 then an hour with goodwill being dropped to 0.

Goodwill isn't that big of a deal right now. But with rumors of a system being started where players below 50% goodwill can't que for ranked. I don't know about you but i don't want to be locked out of ranked because I didn't want to play with the three trolls who instalocked assassins.

I agree and disagree with your post. While it is annoying to see teammates not communicate or pick different types of gods when they see someone has the role filled, it is also bad form to just desert them without even trying.

I do like your penalty ideas, as they seem a bit more fair. I say this mostly because my laptop (which is the only thing I have to play games on) can't exactly handle SMITE (it plays decently on low settings) and my connection isn't the best so every two-three matches are laggy messes that cause me to disconnect, forcing me to scramble to get back in the game before I'm labeled Deserter. (I understand this mostly my fault, but it is still annoying.)

One thing I'd like added is to make the timer before you are labeled Deserter longer, maybe somewhere between 5-10 minutes? Just enough time for people to not have to rush to get back in while short enough to where they can't just quit and reappear at the last minute or something.

This is one of the biggest issues in smite, in my book.. Which ruins my experience with the game. When you get a team where people don't communicate, just pick/instant lock, and you end up with a ****ty setup with no synergy or multi of same role which usually makes a ****ty game. Here I feel like i am wasting my team.

Really would love if HiRez found a way to fix this, atleast for us who care about this. And only playing ranked isn't an option when you want to practice a god/role..

P.S. I usually don't leave, and don't like leavers. But the times I have done it this is the reason.. I don't care if people are bad, aslong as they want to communicate and we try as a team.

Look hirez can't make people not instalock 3
Assassins.

A: they were most likely trolls or low level and that that happens. Report them whem the game is done.
B: you can try to make most of it. I once got a full mage team and we won. This was with level 30 players.

You are in the wrong leaving here. If you are in casual queue amd you get this you get every right to be annoyed but if you doghe you are not in the right.
The wordt kind of player is the leaver/afk'er not instalocker though they are bad to.

If it was in ranked i understand but in casual there is no reason to doghe even if you get a troll/noob team.

I think the punishment for dc'ing is fine.

One can hope and ask for a place where you can be serious outside of ranked.. I really don't like the attitude you show. Where you want to be the judge of what people can and can't do.. I don't leave much but since I started getting quite annoyed of what I feel, people are wasting my time. They can't force someone to play on their terms like I can't force them on mine.. Thats why I try and raise the issue of two different playerbases that want two different kinds of fun. How we can solve this to make everyone happy. Because I don't wanna stop playing a game I enjoy nor ruining ranked games if I don't feel iam ready for it..

Let me give you the solution i give everyone with a similar probleme.

Play with friends

As fir my "attidute" noi jughe people on go about stuff they can and can't do. Everyone does. Look this is not a big issue at
All. You get a trolly/nooby team go ahead be annoyed. Pick random tank, go never tank for them if they are trolls (if they are serious and told you a stategy play as normal) and wait till they have fed and surrender or just wait
Till the game is over.

If you doghe or dc i and a lot of people will not respect you.

The dc penalty is fine.

I think the "punishment" is right ! No matter how bad the team is or if somebody picked your favourite god you should be fair to the other guys and play the match anyway .What if every guy who doesn't get a good team or his/ her favourite god would avoid the match , we wouldn't be playing at all .There will always be one guy unhappy with something .

When Thanatos was released everybody wanted him and people kept arguing about who will get thanatos , many left the lobby and I couldn't play any Arena game for 5 minutes or more .How lame is that ?!

Again , the punishment is fair in my opinion .

The punishment for leaving lobby is fine. You're essentially blocked from playing for approximately the same amount of time that it would have taken for you to just play the game, which I agree with.

The only leaver punishment I hate is that if you DC from a game that's like 5 minutes from ending, you're marked as Deserter for 30 minutes, which absolutely SUCKS. Imo if you leave a game and the game finishes while you're away, it should track how long you weren't there, then add 5-10 minutes ontop of that and make that number your deserter punishment (So if you leave 5 minutes from the end of the game, you'll be blocked for 10-15 minutes rather than 30)

I'm fine with heavy penalties for leaving (30mins to an hour), because the temptation to ragequit is very strong wtih many. I've had very winning teams attempt to surrender b/c for someone reason they needed to leave, etc, and wanted an out...

I try to think of a way that gives some leeway, but in the end it will just boil down to a ragequit quota that will be used by some, so keep heavy penatlies imo.

I think people may be misunderstanding what I am saying. Dodging a game and leaving a game are 2 different things with 2 different sets of consequences for all involved. When you leave a game that has already begun you are screwing over 4 other players who will then have to set through the rest of the 30 minute match without you. However if you dodge a game because the team comp is bad, no one wants to communicate, you chose the wrong game type by accident, etc etc then the other 4 players are free to go right back into que and get another game. In fact one could even argue that the draft dodger is doing the team a favor if its at the point where 3 people have locked in assassins.

Anyway that is why i can objectively say that dodging should have a lesser punishment than leaving; dodging doesn't inconvenience people near as much.

And for all of those telling me not to judge others for not wanting to communicate in a team based game why are you judging me for not wanting to waste my time on those people. When i enter a game i always ask what roll i can play to help and fill to the best of my ability... how dare i hold others to the same standard? Having a lesser dodge punishment may actually make the smite community rage a bit less in general. The reason being more experienced players have the option to dodge a bad game without screwing over there account and the trolls can eventually find games with other trolls who don't care.
