I simply would like to know how XP works. Specifically...

1) What is XP?
2) In what way or ways does one gain XP?
3) Is it true you do not gain XP when pushed under your tower?
4) Is it true that you gain XP simply by being in the vicinity of dying minions or gods? And if so, how close do you need to be?
5) I understand being "zoned out" is a strategy to push opponents under tower so they do not get XP. What gods are especially good at zoning, and how can you combat a zoning strategy? What gods are easy to zone out?
6) If despite your best effort you find your XP has been suppressed and you are behind in levels, what is the best thing you can do to catch up or otherwise help your team? All I can think of is try farm as much as you can, stay away from the enemy an try not to die, and maybe split push as much as you can when everyone is busy elsewhere. Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance for your helpful (or humorous) responses.

You will still get xp when pushed under your tower, even if the tower kills the npcs. You just won't get last hit bonus or gold. If your being pushed under your tower a lot; ask for a gank from your jungler. If you fall behind late game, then do some safe jungle farming and also push empty lanes out.

Thanks Zero.

Can anyone accurately explain how XP works?

XP is achieved by minion kills. Killing an enemy god gives a percentage of the xp required for their next level. As such, if you are level 1, and kill a god at level 5, because they require a lot of total experience to level, you can get more htan a single level with one kill. ***its give a portion of this. This also means killing a god lower level than you gives you much less experience.

I really appreciate that you guys have bothered to respond to my questions. I'm sorry that I am not totally convinced by the answers I've received so far. My impression is that you do receive XP from killing minions, but also that you do not necessarily need to kill them but just be near them when they die. You may be right, and I may be wrong, but that is how I feel. HighRez, please, please write a players' guide that explains how things work.

No that's right, you just need to be near them. But killing them gives more. (2/3 compared to 100%, if I remember)

Cool, cool. Thank you, Raventhor. I just wish HighRez would provide an official, authoritative guide so that I don't have to settle for "if I remember correctly." All respect to you, kind sir.
