With already two (I don't count HoN as successful, just look at their 'biggest tournament to date') major MOBAs, it's semi-understandable for similarities in champions/heroes from other games. However, I've been noticing a trend in most new Gods. First of all, they're being pumped out fate than a prostitute transmits AIDs, which leads me to question how much effort is put into each god. There just seems to be really close similarities to already existing Gods.

The prime example of this is Apollo's So Beautiful and other abilities that are alike. Basically, most recent champions have a piercing skillshot that damages all enemies in a line. This is the worst offender, as unlike Poseidon's Tidal Surge (which, by the way, shares the same image as He Bo's Crushing Wave, therefore further supporting my point of the effort being put into these new Gods being questionable) or Anhur's Impale, it comes with no other added effect. Also, I think it really sounds stupid, but that doesn't add to my argument in any way.

So Beautiful (it pains me to type it) is very similar, if not identical, to the following abilities:
- Impale
- Tidal Surge
- Backfire
- Shackles (although it is stretching it a bit saying it's very similar)
- Celestial Beam: This is pretty much identical to So Beautiful.

There are many other very similar abilities of different kinds, but those are the ones for the 'line skillshot'.

The skillsets of some of the new Gods just don't feel unique enough for me. I honestly would rather have Hi-Rez just slow down on the creation of these Gods. Heck, if I remember correctly, Apollo came out less than a week after Aphrodite, and even their skillsets have a similarities.

I really feel like most variation is only possible in supports and tanks, just adding a ton of new CC and support mechanisms, not sure if a carry can be hugely different from another carry honestly >.>

To be honest, I wondered about the same thing, but frankly it's probably designed this way to optimize the game itself. At a certain point, someone probably realized that a lined nuke is a good ability to have on damage dealers because it requires skill to be effective, but is not so powerful that its easy mode to use and hard to dodge. There just aren't that many options for damage output that are both balanced with how they deal damage and how easily they can be countered.

On another note, I don't think you can say the gods that are coming out are bland. Even if they are similar to other gods, their differences are what seem to be changing the game. Aphrodite, for example, has basically made it so Thor as a melee carry is more effective than a bruiser; Apollo is the first entrance of a ranged assassin that is built entirely around mobility and situation awareness. Nezha especially is getting people thinking about true jungle melees again, and could possibly offer a new meta for the game. I think the best thing to do is not review how the gods are similar to ones that have already come out, but what effect they've had on the game as a whole.

They could get more creative if they want.

You know they could do tons of things,
3 circles that are small you could place down
have a square shape or triangle, I mean really they can do endless things but they probably think it doesn't match smite or something. Either way if it was my game I would be doing crazy ****.
