Just a thread to put your thoughts about the new Ymir, whether you think he's at par with sobek/athena yet, or still kinda bad, or what.

Did I misunderstand the patch notes? How is this a buff?

Base damage of his ult has been reduced. Magic power contribution has been reduced. His glacial does damage a fraction of a second sooner (big deal).

The only thing I see as a potential buff is canceling the ult early.

Personally, id rather have the higher damage ult that can't be canceled. With certain teammates its still easy to land the hits and I like the zoning potential.

he only lost 100 base damage, which is less than a 10% reduction. 50% less scaling seems like a lot, but really, how much spellpower does the average tank ymir have anyway? I doubt you'll notice a significant decrease in damage.

being able to cancel it earlier is a tremendous boost in return, because it gives you flexibility. Now you can use your ult and have go off for almost guaranteed damage before the enemy can get away.

for example, in an arena match earlier today, our ymir killed a tyr at 10%ish hp who was getting away by ulting then immediately popping it. That guy would have made it back to base otherwise. I'd say that his ult was overall buffed.

and as for his glacial strike, coming out a quarter of a second faster may not seem like much, but this game is fast paced enough that it's a noticeable improvement.

I got to check it out the new Ymir soon. I stopped to play him because of his Ultimate, but that buff solved the problem.

I'm pretty sure Ymir will return to the tournaments soon.

I love the Ymir buff. With everything he got he might be viable for solo lane, they have nerfed his ult by 100 damage so it's barely noticeable.
