Hello, I am not completely sure whether I am posting this in the right section or not, feel free to move it if so.

I'm not a new player, but I spent most of my time playing 2-3 certain gods(which no one should do, I know)and recently, I wanted to give Hel a try in mid-lane. I am aware that Hel is well-known for her bad early game, but I feel like that's an understatement, especially against certain match-ups like Ao, Poseidon, and Agni where they just out-push me back to my tower and I fall behind on farm. Plus I cant even clear my minions with 3 because I would just get poked too much by them.

So I would like to ask for some advice on how to play Hel in early game, and especially against the gods I mentioned. Thanks in advance!

I'm no Hel expert, but I can tell you this;

Solo lane is safer with her.

If you do happen to mid, which is fine, many people do it, and just in general, if you did'nt know - level up Repulse first. Go Repulse at level 1, Decay at 2, Repulse in 3, and from there, it's your decision, whether you want to play safe and put a point into Hinder at level 4 or use that point for Repulse or Decay etc.

You can use Repulse in light stance to heal your minions.

P.S - This should go in either 'Mentoring' or 'New Player Help'

I know that's not much, but that's just what I know from looking at her kit and how she works. There are some Hel guides out there, most of them outdated. There is a great hel guide by TT, but it's for arena, though I'm pretty sure you'll find useful tips in there.

Thank you, I'll be grateful if a moderator moves the topic for me.

My skill priority is the same you said, so I don't think there's a problem there. I also have read TT's (DrPaco) guide, which helped me alot on choosing my build and skill order but unfortunately it's for arena, as you said. Rest of the guides are outdated, so maybe I could hope for an updated conquest guide from TT, /poke.

I would still like some more feedback, thanks.

PS: Oh you are the one that wrote that Artemis guide, it also helped me alot^^

I was watching the SmiteGame stream earlier with HiRezKelly, she used Hel solo against a Guan Yu in left lane. She dominated that lane. I believe she also used her mid too in a separate game.

I'm not good at explaining stuff though, so me trying to explain how she played wouldn't go well. So I do recommend you to go watch the archives.

Hel against Guan Yu in-lane is in favor of Hel. Because Guan clears wave with Taolu Assault, he needs to start from the melee minions and move slowly towards the archer minions with the knock back on Taolu Assault. And because Hel uses Repulse in the middle of the wave, she can easily hit both Guan and the wave while he tries to clear. She gets much more poke and sustain.

True, as I said, I do not have much problem against any gods other than Agni and Ao, they appear to be the only gods with insane wave clear and poke. I did watch a stream of HiRezKelly playing hel, it sure helped me alot, thanks for the suggestion. :)

Early game is definitely the greatest hurdle for Hel in almost every game mode, but most especially in Conquest. What I do is rank my Repulse up to the point where it can one-shot a wave ASAP, and then the game usually turns in your favor. So unless I'm facing certain opponents where I need a point in Cleanse (could include the jungler, not just the enemy midlaner), I put a point into Repulse / Inspire, then a point into Decay / Restoration, then focus on Repulse. If the lane is somewhat of a stalemate, then I do put points into my ultimate. If there's a lot of poke trading, especially if you're the one hitting them, then I max Repulse / Inspire and Decay / Restoration as soon as I can.

If the enemy has very high poke, the best you can honestly do early game is lose out on a bit of farm from the tower until you can safely clear waves. It's better to hang in there than to die, after all. And while it does cost too much mana to be anything but a last choice, you can always hit a wave with both Repulse and Decay.

I actually am planning on making a Conquest guide for Hel in the summer, but I currently intend to just keep my current guides up to date while I finish off this year of school.

Yeah against very agressive enemies it's probably better to lose out on some farm. Thank you all for your help, it certainly became easier to mid-lane now :)

I ended up sololaning against bakasura like one month ago. He ate my face.

So I kinda need some advice on Hel too.

All I know is. If your laning against an agressive Assassin. Try not to use your clears all at once just for the minions. You'll just be left open for their AAs.
