So i was just playing a game as fenrir. i havent used him much, im still a neophyte with him. i join this match and the enemy fenrir is god rank 8 with more than 1k kills and assists. so of course once the match starts my teamates are freaking out, some saying gg, and talking trash to me in chat saying im not even adept and i suck and stuff. i just laugh and tell them to calm down. I see enemy fen in the jungle and smash him for first blood, then proceed to carry the rest of the game. i think my final k/d/a was something like 15-5-10, and enemy fen had like 7-9-4. my team was ready to practically surr at the apperance of this fen and we ended up winning by a lot, because me, not even adept, carried that game. idk guess i got my feel goods for the day.

Anyway what do you guys have to think about the god ranks. i really think they are meaningless and they kinda annoy me

found the actual match stats. i did better than i thought (IGN: BonyCrow)

Most of he times I don't even see them because after I choose the god I want to play I just alt tab and do something else on the pc, but when I do see for example a Golden Rank 10 Zeus with 3000 kills I will be more cautious around him than I would be around let's say an Adept Zeus .Cautious doesn't mean scared though .

I had two arena matches the other day where our team had 2 rank 10 gods (Chronos and He Bo one game, Ao and loki in another) while the other team had like rank 2 at most.

we lost both matches. one of them pretty badly.

Ranks just means that they played that god, a lot. It shows nothing of there skill, just experience. That can mean one of two things:

1.) The guy decided that he was good at the god, and bought the golden skin and played him to legendary

2.) he's an autolocker who cares less about his team than he cares about the neighbor's cat.

In the first case, be cautious. In the second case, just rape him and let his team do the rest (the one good thing about toxicity).

If he played badly as a high ranked god, you might consider his experience probably comes from other game modes. I know I let a few teams down myself coming from arena to conquest as a rank 10 chronos, and having no idea how to budget mana, navigate jungle, the gank tactics normally used there, not having your entire team at your side especially for early game, and simply not being able to run 20 paces back for full health, etc...

I decided to smurf some on a diff account so I wouldn't be forced to learn conquest (or other gods at lvl 30), but going 30/0 against peeps having trouble finding the attack button also makes me feel bad too :P

Basically you can assume SOME amount of skill based simply on the fact that even if they suck they still know more or less what NOT to do. I played a golden He Bo in conquest once as Chronos. "I'm screwed" i thought. Nnnnnnnnnnnno, not even close. BOOM!

God ranks are a good rule of thumb but not some kind of universal law. I'm a mastery rank 10 Guan Yu and my KD in my last 30 conquest games is over 4 and I have a 2.3 conquest kd overall. I doubt you'll find similar numbers on Guan Yu's that aren't rank 10(and has played more than 5 matches....). Also, I'm not rank 10 on other gods and I wouldn't be able to come close to the same numbers on any other god...because I don't play them enough(and mastery rank alludes to this). It also matters for your teamates. If you see that they have a 10 mastery ranked Fenrir with a million kills and your highest is 2...you're probably at a disadvantage.

Really what mastery rank is telling you is how much experience that person has on that god...which is important. Someone that is playing a god that they've played enough to be level 10 is probably going to do alot better than someone playing a god they've only gotten to mastery rank 1 or 2.

Here's the thing about god ranks. When you see someone playing a god as like, rank 8, there are a lot more likely to know what they are doing than say, a person who is at Mastery Level 0. However, if you happen to be able to see how many kills they have, you can probably judge them quite accurately. A rank 8 Fenrir with only 1000 kills probably sucks...

They can be intimidating when you see them initially, but more times than not, it doesn't really mean anything in the match. I've been against plenty that have been high ranks that turned out not doing so great.
