I was curious about what some certain "quality of life" improvements people would like to see introduced to Smite. With the addition of those (admittedly stupid) arrows and directions to every jungle camp, I got to thinking about other things that people might actually want added to the game but aren't.

For one thing, I'd personally really like to see a mana cost on each skill icon, similar to the way DotA 2 shows them. Of course, it makes sense to have the cooldowns shown on skill icons, but a mana cost display would be just as helpful, especially in situations where you're low and need to know if you've got enough mana to stay and fight without having to hover over and stop to read tooltips.

Another thing that would be nice is the ability to rotate the camera without having to actually turn your character. I understand that this is probably intentional, to force someone that's running away to be unable to stop and look, but even in that instance, in reality you could look back over your shoulder (okay, maybe not if you're Geb, or Ymir, or Sobek, or basically any god with no neck or a huge body, but still). Sometimes it would be convenient to look back and see just how far back my minions are or exactly how many enemies I have chasing me.

Also, get rid of the aforementioned camp signs. They're stupid and unnecessary, and also mislabeled in some cases. It's like training wheels for junglers or something.

You are aware you can turn it off in Settings, right? Doesn't seem too bad for new players though.
For one I hope they remove the restriction on the mouse's movement area. Even though you can turn it off, I can imagine it being a huge turn-off for new players.

I do whole-heartedly agree with the camera and mana thing.

It's not my idea and it has been mentioned here before - but visual or audio support for when a skill is silenced would be nice.

But my far most requested thing would be chat groups. I know, in most games, these become generally crowded with re-re's. But 5v5 conquest really needs it. Right now you have to queue up to 9 minutes and you usually end up without a game. A chat lobby would make it possible to ask if anyone else is queue-ing up.

Adittionally a competitive IRC(ish) for SMITE so you can ask for low-mid-high tier games. But that's up to the community, not so much SMITE.
That's just my 2 cents.

1. I also think there is no need for camp signs..for new players when they get near a camp there is already an auto popup which details it out.

2. Ability to rotate a camera: well i think the game has the concept of line of sight , for complete view there is minimap and u can buy wards and watch movement..its actually a part of gameplay..dont think its a good idea to rotate camera.

3. ' Whether a skill can be used with availabl mana' is already there, the skill gets turned off..i dont think we ever keep note of the exact amount of health or mana left in numbers..dont think its worth a change

Actually, rotating your camera wouldn't be that bad. You'll still be focused in front of you 90% of the time, and turning around...think about it. When will you turn around aside from gazing at Aphrodite's chest?

When you are warned by something. Like wards. So the system of Line of Sight is still intact.

Rotate camera ability can be discussed in detailed as to how much and in which way it shall be done without violating line of sight, if smbdy can help me visualize better..

This probably just annoys me, but they have restricted the amount of movement on the camera's y axis by a lot. To be honest, when I move my mouse forwards and backwards, it feels like my field of view is too restricted, and personally, I'd prefer it to be back to the game's old y axis, with the larger up and down movement.

I didn't know that could be turned off. Thank god.

And I completely agree with a chat lobby as well. I made a thread here earlier in general for the purpose of trying to set up people to queue with, sort of like a "looking for group" channel, but no one tried to get it started. With a game this big and with the need for groups so often, I think a chat lobby with "LFG" channels would greatly increase the quality of the game and community as a whole.

The heavy restriction on the X-Y axis, the one that locks to your actual aim-indicator axises, is disable-able in settings. (So you're back to the old Y-X axis).

I had a mini-heart attack when I had that axis restriction - thought it'd be unchangeable.

Yea, I read that post. I don't think Smitefire's forum nearly has the necessary user base to make it work though. Reddit would be a better starting ground but ideally Hirez itself would promote it.

For games like CS and TF2 it was mostly established trough the forum, steam groups, and from there on per word-of-mouth. But both games have a very, very big and pro-active community.
That's just my 2 cents.

Line of sight would remain the same, rotating the camera doesn't give you omnipotent view. Look at DOTA and LoL, both top-down MOBAs and LOS is still greatly at play there as well. In Smite, you cannot rotate the camera vertically (for the most part), which means your LOS is very linear in the first place, even if you could look behind you (there would still be no looking over walls and whatnot). It would simply give you the ability to see in detail what you can already see on the minimap, to help better analyze different situations and act accordingly.

And no, simply redding out a skill is a very vague way of showing that you don't have enough mana. If it displayed a small number in the corner of the icon for the current skill mana cost, it would help know exactly when you'll be able to use that skill again.

For example, you and the enemy are at very low health, but you know with certainty that you can get the kill if you're able to use a skill, except you don't have enough mana left for it. All you can see is the red icon. This means you might end up leaving a fight that you could have won or gotten a kill out of easily, had you known how much mana you needed to secure the kill.

In order to see how much mana you'll need to use the skill, you're currently forced to hover over the icon and view the cost in the huge tooltip, both partially blocking your screen and stopping your movement, which is less than optimal during a fight, and the enemy would more than likely escape before you figured out how much mana you need.

If mana costs were displayed on the icons, on the other hand, it would be different. Say the skill costs 100 mana to use. You currently have 95 mana. That means you only have to wait to regen the 5 mana in a few seconds to kill the enemy. And you're able to know this and act on that opportunity because you can see the skill mana cost right there in front of you without having to use any tooltips or menus.

Something else I didn't know. That's a good thing, I was wondering where my Y camera rotation was disappeared to.
