It's complicated really. Last time I visited the zoo I agro'd any enemy team smurfers and generally left the opposing new recruits alone. It's those selfless douche bags that ruin the game for new guys, so it was my job to stop them. Smurfing is like putting a WWE Wrestler into a UFC cage; It's unfair to be dished out more than you can handle.

I honestly hate smurfs. It only makes new people quit the game they just started and gives the smite community a LoL badge. Combine it with smurf premades and really bad manners and you get an environment even more revolting than LoL or DOTA.

this is dark side of smurffing

Subzero also mentioned a light side to smurffing which I think is playing Champions/Gods in the role that you happen to be worst at so your MMR doesn't drop on your main account, this is more for League then Smite.

think of it as fighting with one arm tied behind your back

or it could be to help or play with some friends who are just getting into the game or just some friends who suck. Or you just want to play off the grid because all of your friends are on and want to play. And you don't really want to play with any of them at the time, and happen to be to nice to tell them I want to solo queue so I can blast my music.

exactly it just takes away time from earning things for your main account.

That is subjective. The only reason I smurfed in this game is because I was helping to get a friend acquainted with the game since he was new. The elo on my main is astronomically higher than his by comparison, and I didn't want to give him the wrong impression of the game by putting him in matches with players who would be far more competant than he can handle.

When I play with my low lvl friends I just do it with my main. but if it's there first time playing moba/smite I will go an play some bot matches with them until I find them decent enough to play pvp (most beginner mistakes gone). If their fast learner I help them build in pvp matches if not I will help them build in pve matches XD

I wish I'd get smurfers on my team, instead I always get players that have no idea what they're doing.

Had to google the word to know what it actually means...

If one does it to simply own low level players because one can't own same level players it's lame, get better. If one does it to simply improve the skill on a certain god it's excusable

As far add I know, they have no restrictions on it. The Refer-A-Friend page doesn't list any prohibited practices such as self exploiting.
