Patches, depending on the content, happen every week or so.

New gods tend to be released biweekly (every 2 weeks) unless there is cause for delay, in which it could be extra week of waiting.

In-between god releases, there are usually small balancing patches like the Diamond Sword Ares patch we got last week, which in addition to a new skin, fixed some notable issues like reverting Ne Zha's Universe Ring Toss, fixing an issue with Vulcan's thumper xvi, tuning some active items, etc.

It all follows a pattern, and usually around Tuesday is when new patch info begins to crop up. Search around the SMITE Reddit, check out the HiRez Twitch stream, etc., on that day and you should learn something.
Waiting on a good new MOBA, please.

SmiteFire & Smite

Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.
