I have been trying to learn Sobek on my own (which, given my skill level, is a daunting task). And I cannot find any updated guides (or even ones updated recently enough to not be archived) to help. Why is this?

Do everything you do with any other support. Same builds, rotating, all of that, just with Sobek's abilities instead(learning how to use the abilities is the easy part). That is literally how the support role works.

the problem with Sobek support is the same with arachne jungle, yes they can be fun and have the potential to be good but there are more gods out there that can do a better job,

Sobek is a pretty powerful Guardian, ESPECIALLY during laning phase. Unlike Guardians like Ymir who's hard CC effectively roots, Sobek pulls the enemy deep into your side of the lane, which is often deadly. He also gets built in healing AND mana sustain, so it really is the laning phase where he shines. Past that he does fall off abit in team fights though, unless he can specifically target squisher members of the enemy team and help to pick them off [sort of like arachne.]

I'd shadow what others have said. Practise the Guardian role in general, it's well worth the time investment. Each God has its quirks and niches but the role is usually the same. So learning that first gives you a strong foundation to build upon with each individual God. :) Gl!

Nah, he's just my favorite god. There were no amazing Ra guides and I feel no Loki guides are really that in-depth (closest was yurs)

Welp, I need to get back into guide writing, cause it has been awhile since I wrote one. My next guide will be for a guardian, possibly Sobek.

I played Sobek yesterday against a Zeus and destroyed him in solo lane...

The only way he got any kills on me was from his stupid jungler but other than that he camped his tower all match in solo lane and still lost his solo lane even after his jungler killed me.
