Notably absent from Smite are figures from Abrahamic religions. It would be an awesome addition to the game to be able to select such well-known mythological figures as Jesus or Satan. (Contrary to popular belief, Jesus is not a non-combat god; Christians believe he personally fought Satan in hell and will later engage in hand-to-hand battle with demons on Earth after the Rapture.)

There is an extremely rich lore from which Highrez could draw to create these characters. Even less-well-known characters, like the Angel Gabriel or Pope Paul III, could be magnificent to play as. Such an opportunity is being squandered when we get "The Gatekeeper Janus" (who?) instead of Jesus "The Messiah" Christ.

I imagine these gods are excluded out of sensitivity to Americans' religious beliefs -- but if that's the case, why are any current-day gods included (i.e. Kali, the cleavage-sporting Hindu god)? It's hard to see this as anything but tacit endorsement of a particular type of religion.

TL;DR: I want to play 3v3 Joust as Jesus. Let's make it happen.

Well, the majority of Smite's community isn't Hindu I'm presuming and even then, there was a little misfit about it. Hindu God Controversy. The petition was closed long ago. I'm Hindu idrc lol and I'm quite religious :P

As of why they don't include gods from Abrahamic religions is for gameplay. What "lore" and cool abilities do you think Jesus would have? What about "god" or satan? Even if Jesus was an alright god, being a mage or guardian idk, there would be no other characters to put in the same religion. They can't put "God" in, I mean that kinda nullifies all the other power of every other god. The only cool character I would play would be Satan or the Devil or whatever. He's the only "non-human" character from these religions other than like... God.

Here's a link for more info bout it: here

[Key Abrahamic figures] are all peaceful--at best they would be support characters. http://www.gamespot.com/articles/deity-based-moba-smite-will-not-use-jewish-christian-islamic-figures/1100-6384974/

Apparently someone hasn't read the Old Testament or the Koran. Those texts are loaded cover-to-cover with the bizarre & brutal violence we might expect of Bronze Age peasants.

It can't be argued that you can't make an interesting character based on Jesus. The Jesus myth is so well-fleshed out in the New Testament and popular culture that almost any skillset could be created and matched to the lore. Same for Satan (fallen archangel), Gabriel (messenger angel), Samson (hairy strongman), etc.

Keep the dream alive. Jesus for best Smite God 2014.

Okay. I am an Atheist. But when I was younger, my school did religious studies. This is completely incorrect. Jesus does not fight Lucifer in hell, he does not come down and fight demons during the rapture.

Anyways, Christianity is the largest religion in the world, and Smite is based in western counties, where christianity is the biggest. HiRez would be committing suicide if they introduced any characters from this pillar of westernism.

Not sure if troll or just...really naive. Everything you've just stated was false. Jesus IS a non-combat prophet. You're thinking of the Jewish perspective of a Messiah in which a warrior draped in the blood of demons comes down to exile those who question the authority of god; aka NOT JESUS.

Second, Hi-Rez stated already that no Christian Mythology will be added to the game. You thought Hindu was bad? Just wait till the entirety of US and Europe are on Hi-Rez' ***, I guarantee Jesus wouldn't last a minute in the game as he would be immediately removed due to the massive **** storm that would brew on the company for degrading the name of their belief by shredding it with violence.

Let's be real here for a second. Do you HONESTLY believe that Jesus would be a fitting character in SMITE? I mean really. It's fun and exciting to learn about mythologies no one has heard of, hearing the stories of those who ventured off to avenge their fathers; frost giants who rival the mightiest of heroes; goddesses who topple even the proudest of kings and stun the wisest of scholars! What does Jesus have? He is a messenger. He is pure of heart, can turn water into wine, and feed the hungry. OMGPLSADDSOEXCITEPLSJESUSYESPLS. No.

Honestly, if you think about it, Abrahamic Mythology is just a shortened version of uhh...oh! EVERY MYTHOLOGY EVER. Take Greek for example. Divine rule of the heavens? Zues - Done. Divine rule of the underworld and darkness? Hades - Done. Mortal messenger or descendant of Divine ruler to impress humans? Heracles - Done and Done.

It's not unique. It's not forgotten. Hell, it's not even action-packed. Where are the stories? Where are the heroes destroying mountain tops? Where are the villains that shatter the world in endless darkness? Where are the battles? The Fun? THE EXCITEMENT?!

This game is for an arsenal of heroes and mythology that leave people questioning the pantheon, wanting to know more about each and letting people play as a god of triumph. Leave Christianity out of Smite. Period.

Nope. Educate yourself. He has fought before and will battle the "antichrist" seven years after the "Rapture." Or so the story goes.

All press is good press. The name of this game on the front page of newspapers would not be bad for its business. What's more, the introduction would represent a strong pro-speech stance. Society, not just this game, would be better off if Jesus were to enter the fray.

So by your logic, a newspaper like New York Times print out a paper with the headline Smite is degrading our lord and savior. Would you think that people would want to enjoy the game or hate on the game that made their savior violent? I mean like why would you say this. This is untrue and you should be careful how you word your little paragraph.
