Base Build

Notes Benevolence can be built now, so can War Flag. It doesn't really matter what you build, but I still like Sentinel's Embrace

You can rush Stone of Binding if you want to be aggressive early; its dependent on your team comp vs. there's. If you rush Stone of Binding in place of Gauntlet of Thebes, I would just go straight into defensive items. You don't have to though.

You can also go Pridwen right after Gauntlet of Thebes instead of delaying it if you want immediate cooldown. Once again, its dependent on the enemy comp and if a straight defensive item would be more valuable or not.

Notes "Mwemwemwe every item a support builds is situational..."

Witchblade: Enemy has a lot of auto attackers.

Relic Dagger: You really like using your relics.

Magi's Cloak: Enemy has a lot of prevalent CC and/or you want to blink in without getting immediately locked down.

Introduction

Welcome to my guide for Miss Athena. Here are my credentials.

If you see any spelling errors or think I should change something, let me know.!

Pros + Cons

PROS
Taunt is OP
Global presence with her ultimate
Very easy to play and very impactful
Viable support into and with any team comp

CONS
Ultimate can be blocked by allies
Allies can also die before her ult goes off
Loud charge up on her dash
Taunt has an extremely long cooldown, she needs CDR.
A little useless when her taunt is down.

Abilities

You should read Athena's abilities in detail either through Smite or here: https://smite.fandom.com/wiki/Athena

After using any ability, Athena's next Basic Attack is ranged, passes through and hits all enemies, and deals 50% increased damage to the first enemy hit. Reach's damage will trigger Basic Attack Item Effects, but not Ability ones.

Simplified Explanation

Athena powers up for a dash. While dashing, Athena will pass through minions, stop and hit the first enemy god she encounters, dealing damage and slowing all she hits. If she hits an enemy, Athena gains one stack of Block (max 3), absorbing the next Basic Attack from any god that hits her.

Slow Amount: 25%

Slow Duration: 2.25s

Cooldown: 14 seconds

Simplified Explanation

Athena releases a shockwave of power from her shield, Taunting enemy gods, and forcing them to fight or chase her.

Taunt Duration: 1.0/1.25/1.5/1.75/2.0s

Cooldown: 18 seconds

Simplified Explanation

Athena summons a group of Athenian warriors who do damage upon arrival, and after 2s strike for additional damage.

Cooldown: 14 seconds

Simplified Explanation

Athena picks a single allied god anywhere in the world, and launches herself up into the air, landing next to that god 3.6 seconds later. During that 3.6 seconds, the allied god gains 30% Damage Mitigation. Enemies nearby when Athena lands take damage.

Cooldown: 110 seconds

Simplified Explanation

Athena's primary combo is as follows:

Preemptive Strike > Confound > Auto > Shield Wall > Auto

Sometimes you will not need to dash, or you will Blink Rune instead, and many times you will Confound > Auto > Shield Wall after using Defender of Olympus, and if you have it, instead of autoing in between Confound and Shield Wall you will instead Sundering Spear for a guaranteed hit.

The combo changes slightly depending on the situation, but it always revolves around Confound.
