Notes Thanks to 10.3 changes, Doom Orb is much more buildable, and feels great in the jungle. Healing is widespread even if technically lower, so Divine is core. If there's no healing you can get a Soul Gem for more burst and cooldown.

Ao Kuang's Skill Order Notes I've seen that some people like to level the 2 first, but I feel safer in mid with the range of the 3 (without sacrificing the ability to hit multiple targets).

Otherwise it's pretty straightforward. 3 then 2 for damage. If you find you can get ults pretty consistently, you can level the ult instead of the 1 after you've finished 2+3.

Extended Build

Burn

Notes Gets you near capped AS thanks to the high power+ Nimble Bancroft's Talon. Newly revamped Telkhines Ring and the new Cyclopean Ring have great synergy with your fast auto chain. Don't upgrade Bancroft's until you're 3+ items in.

Your best build for consistent damage, especially in the jungle. Your focus is to burn an enemy down and ult at the nearest opportunity in a teamfight. If the person is alone, this is going to give you the most sustained damage without having to rely on your ult.

Swaps/Situational

Notes If the enemy team lacks significant healing, you can opt for Magus over Divine.

If the enemy has quite a bit of magic defense, go Demonic or Ob shard instead last.

Magi's can be built instead of Telkhines if you feel you're being locked down too often. (Or instead of Divine if no healing)

Intro

Welcome to my second guide, my first for Ao Kuang

I'm primarily a casual conquest player and have come to enjoy Ao in multiple roles:
  • Jungle- When the team needs extra magical damage, Kuang is the most natural magical jungle, and you're least likely to clash with teammates in that you 1) Can't get crit, so your hunter is free to build it and 2) Enemies are unlikely to build anti-heal purely on account of you.
  • Solo- When you need magical damage and are in a meta where Guardian solos aren't very good (not unlike post 9.5, where tankier creeps means early damage in the lane is useful). Furthermore, it's easy to catch an opponent off guard and building phys D first with many team comps.
  • Support- Admittedly this is a bit of a troll pick and I would never do it in ranked, but if you want to build full tank and still have the capacity to carry/get kills, this is a very fun choice... you have to be respected thanks to your execute.

Loving the support build! It doesn't do a lot of damage, but really nice it secures kills!

It's really good for a guide and builds

Hey, overall I like the Guide. I think Ao Kuang is ALWAYS gonna be better just Full Power but I like that you included the AA build. My only criticism is of the Power Build. I think you'll be better off with Protector of the Jungle instead of Bumbas (Atleast for now, we'll see after next patch lol), as well as removing Poly. With Ao Kuang, I've found it 10x better not getting Poly and opting for sustain. So my personal build for Ao Kuang jungle is: Protectors, Book of Thoth, Bancrofts, Divine Ruin (or Spear of deso or Spear of Magus), Typhon's, into a final flex item but usually percent pen. With this build you can easily go in, kill a squishy then get out before anyone can notice as well as sustain for multiple fights. You give up CDR but I never found CDR particularly helpful on Kuang since at the late game stage you're only going to get off 1 full ability rotation before you either kill or die. With the build I use, you have a sufficient amount of Power/Pen and some added survivability with Bancrofts and Typhon's.
Just my opinion though, I don't think you can go wrong with the build you included.

Fair critique. I'll have to update in the next week or two. I think zoom orb will be much more buildable in that style of build now, but I need to test stuff out.

About Ao supp.
Don't use animosity. It will not improve your dmg much but you cannot use lono's. Lono + stone of fal gives Ao incredible mitigation. In long match you will be top in dmg mitigation even vs full tank guards. And in late lono will also give protections aura for allies.
The only problem of Ao supp is that he has no mass CC, but you ability to take out instantly low health enemy supp\solo with your ult is great.

I agree Lono's is probably better late, but Protector's does cripple your early and mid-game damage, which is the most significant thing you bring to fights outside your ult. And Animosity does more than double your AA damage, especially when consider the bonus procs on your fast AA chain (before prots). But I'll test both in the next couple days and might swap them out when I update the guide this week.

Haven't played him in support yet this patch since he can't
