When playing Zeus, you will face a major problem. He is incredibly mana hungry. Most mages can fix this with the Book of Thoth, but I'm going to give an alternative for Zeus. With Zeus's passive, he has an extra option to his mana hunger... Attack Speed. His passive allows him to do extra damage (up to 90% extra) per basic attack. Also, his basics put a "charge" on the enemy, allowing his detonate to do extra damage without using mana to put charges up on the enemy. While this doesn't seem like a big advantage at first, it allows a lot of quick damage with minimal mana costs, and the best part, the charges reset quickly with high attack speed, so the damage stays high more easily.
As I've grown to use Zeus, I've come to notice something both wonderful and irritating. With the high power version of Zeus, you can easily drop hundreds of damage in seconds. But when it comes to finishing enemies with that detonate, I used to wish for just that one last charge for the extra damage. The more I use this attack speed build, the more I find that getting just that one extra charge comes so much more easily. If used correctly, Zeus can dish out a lot of magic damage in a short amount of time, simply with basic attacks. He is a very strong god, but you need to take advantage of ALL of his abilities (not just his active ones)taking advantage of passives on a god can make the difference between being good with a god and truly mastering them. Zeus is no exception.
When laming with an attack sore build on Zeus, every shot counts. If at all possible, stand to the side so you can aim more efficiently at the lane minions while keeping your enemies in your field of vision. Work toward getting the demonic grips as quickly as you can, because it gives your basics an extra punch, lowering the enemy magic protection by 5 points and an additional 7% per stack, up to 3 stacks. It also gives 60 magic power ( useful for spell damage) and 25% attack speed. This one item is essential, so get it as early as possible after the starter items. The reason it is so important is combined with the extra damage from your charges, your detonate will now pierce through 21% of the enemy magic protection within 3 seconds of your 3rd basic attack. This helps in solo lane the most, but it helps a lot in both other lanes. (For future reference, don't ADC with Zeus unless your support is physical. As hard as it is to find a good physic support, you don't want to give the enemy an easy time mitigating damage). You're going to want to hit the minions with your chain lightning ability for quick damage, hit the 3 melee minions in front with a few basic attacks, then detonate. If done correctly, this should easily clear a wave in just a couple seconds, allowing Zeus to keep his wave clear ability (late game, a single chain lightning spell and a few basics will be all you will need). One last, but important thing is don't be afraid to use your basics on an enemy. Hit them with a few basics if they get too close to the minions, hit your detonate, and bak off and continue farming. It's a good source of easy damage (it always hits) and does a lot when done right.
Pros:
Zeus is an area attacker in team fights. When in a team fight, try to stay behind the tanks, but within range of your ult. When the enemy team engages a team member, your ult can be a lifesaver or a life ending blow. That being said, when the enemy team picks a target, you will need to be within range of either your chain lightning or your basics (preferably the second if you're in the lead) to maintain your ability to have a presence. Your damage will not be as explosive or burst oriented as most Zeus builds, so make sure you pay attention to how quick your abilities and basics damage your enemies. This detail can clue you in to whether or not you need to either run, pick another target, or keep going for the kill.
Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.
