Introduction

Vamana is a very underrated tank/bruiser that can be very good at harassing early to mid game. His strong defense allows versatility to his builds that can allow some damage items without being too squishy.

This build that I came up with is really good at countering both magic and physical and making the most out of Vamana's passive Sleeping Giant

Pros and Cons

Pros

    Decent burst damage
    High defense
    Great finisher
    High mobility skill

Cons

    Ult is very slow
    High mana usage

Skills

Great passive that allows Vamanna to tank against phys. carries to gain power

Great escape and great closer. Can be used also for burst damage in certain situations. I like to max this second for the burst damage

Vamana's strongest skill that is good for harassing. Definitely max this first.

I see allot of guides maxing this second. It does do good damage but often times people tend to avoid the second hit. However, it's good to have early for the slow.

This skill has been buffed recently and dishes out good damage. To make the most out of it, a slow is necessary.

Tanky Bruiser Build

Early Game

Start with Mark of the Vanguard a Potion of Physical Might (consume it), 3 Healing Potions and 3 Mana Potions

When you head back pick up Ninja Tabi and a Creeping Curse

Mid Game

I like to start out with this as it gives great early overall stats against both physical and magical. Start stacking the stacks early by getting into team fights. More protections = more damage

This is a must for Vamana to utilize the damage output of his Colossal Fury by slowing them with each basic attack

Late Game

This depends on the enemy team comp

If they are going heavy physical:

go with Midgardian Mail for the extra slow

If they are going heavy magical:

go with Runic Shield

Ending Items:

Ankh of the Bear These items were practically built for Vamana

Tanky DPS build

This build is great against a heavy AD lane and is possible with the recent changes of Witch Stone

As usual, start off with this, 3 Healing Potions and 3 Mana Potions and a Potion of Physical Might buff

Witch Stone The recent changes of this item allows you to replace your boots for a nice DPS tanky build

Ankh of The Bear More attack speed and a bit of health

Get this for the extra health and the mandatory slow

The rest of this build is up to you depending on the enemy team.

For damage:

Eye of Retaliation This passive is really great and the lifesteal helps in surviving the fight

Focused Voidblade No other bruiser gets more damage out of this item than Vamana

Skill Combos

For harassing in lane I often use this combo:

-->

It takes time to learn the distance of this move Umbrellarang. Try to poke the enemy at the very end of when the umbrella comes back. When you do land the move, the slow allows you to run up to the enemy for Armored Umbrella

To initiate when they are low:

-->Cancel (right click) --> Basic attack --> -->

Clear the path is pretty useful as it gives some cc that allows you to get that extra attack off. However, use at your own risk as you would lose your only escape skill.

Summary

This build allows Vamana to be aggressive while slowing the opponents down. I love Hide of the Urchin on Vamana as the stacks can increase his physical protections as well as his damage output. Make sure you be as aggressive as possible to gain those stacks early. Remember that Clear The Path can be used offensively as well and can dish out decent burst damage.

Hope you enjoyed my guide and become a beast with Vamana!
