Introduction

Agni, a very highly skilled god. He rains fire down on all he sees, dominating the enemy. His large area stun brings him into the pro scene and advances him to a higher level of play.

Do not take him lightly, for even if he seems to be loosing, one stun can wreck your entire day. A late game god for the late game damage. His farm may be lacking early game, but once he unleashes the fire down onto the lands he roams, he is a force to be reckoned with.

~hi everyone! Welcome to my submission for the mage guide.

Abilities

Agni' passive Combustion
The passive can do wonders, or it can just be there, to truly play agni at a high level, you must know how to effectively use his passive.
The passive adds 1 sec of bonus magical damage tick to his 2 and 3, which is equal to ten percent of his magical power plus 5.
YOu earn this passive by hitting basic attacks on anything, This passive stacks, so when you get to the max stacks you get four seconds of bonus damage tick on the enemy.

He also has a second passive, His Ult Rain of Fire

This gains charges every 20 seconds, with a maximum of three stacks.
The ability is a small area damage that ignites noxious fumes and can also be used with his other passive. To deal bonus damage after it hits. With how fast this gains charges, you will have one of the fastest cooldown ults in the game.

His dash, Path of flames

This dashes him quite some distance, agni is not immune to anything during this dash, however if he is knocked up he retains his velocity and the path continues under him.
This ability burns those that pass through his line.
This ability can be used with Combustion
This ability ignites Noxious fumes

His Waveclear/burst, Flame wave

This Is not a very effective wave clear, but it does have a pretty big impact if you use Soul stone early game to get the burst damage necessary to clear wave.
This ability can use his Combustion passive.
This ability ignites Noxious fumes

His stun Noxious Fumes

This is a circle ability that summons a circle of a small amount of DPS on the ground for a short amount of time, When this ability is hit by an ability like Flame wave or Path of flames, or His Ultimate, Rain of fire. It ignites stunning any enemies inside the circle.

Item choices, and why they matter.

Starter

Soul stone
Magical power boost that is nearly mandatory in order to make Agni have early game wave clear.

Vampiric shroud
A safer option, grants some lifesteal for sustain and you can't doubt the passive, but you don't really get that good farm as agni if you don't have soul stone for the extra damage.

Early game

Dynasty plate helm.
Ok early pen with some defense, never not welcome to a squish mage like agni.

Demonic grip.
For hitting more auto attacks and for the split push potential, as well as stacking his passive more frequently.

Ob shard.
Great pen, can be purchased early for some good 'ol bonus burst damage against those tank boys in solo and support roles.

Hastened Fatalis
For the bonus pen and the passive, works great in memebuilds as well as if it is used for a slightly better escape in order to get out of a sticky situation when you have no mana, But really it is extremely situational and should only be used in auto-attack builds.

Pen boots.
Early game boots, pretty much mandatory in order to get any farm at all, very simmilar to Soul stone.

Warlock's sash.
Gives health for the stacks, as well as magical power, great on squish mages like Agni.

Polynomicon.
Used for the lifesteal, great damage as well, and because its cost in now reduced it can be bought in the early to mid game.

Late game items

Book of the dead.
Incredible for lifesteal and survivability in fights. While i don't think this is best used by agni, I still think that it could be used to increase survivability in teamfights.

Chronos pendant.
Mainly used for the MP5, but the cooldown has an interesting mechanic where it decreases your cooldowns by 1 sec every minute, so it charges your ult passive faster, making your ult come up just a little bit more often so you can get the combo.

Stone of Fal.
Great if you're going up against a strong burst mage like a He-bo, or a damage guardian like Cabrakkan.

Bulwark of hope.
The shield may seem like a more secure option then stone of Fal, but I find that Stone of Fal's passive helps against many ults whereas the enemy god can just wait for your bulwark shield to be down if you use Bulwark, it really is a matter of preference.

Rod of Tahuti.
For the end-game damage, really brings you online and lets you deal that big damage in teamfights.

Soul reaver.
Don't really need to use this if you have poly, but if you need just that tiny bit of auto-attack damage to finish the enemy of, this is your guy.

Divine ruin.
The increase in cost and the change to a pen item doesn't make this any worse of an option, it now gives mages the oppertunity to shut down healing. Feel free to go nuts.

Gods agni works well with/sucks against.

Agni is great with a co-ordinated team and a good jungler. His lack of early waveclear brings him into a dangerous early game category that can be shut down by almost anyone with the right god picks.

A good pull can wreck his entire day and a good burst mage can take you down in an instant.

Conclusion

Agni is a god that requires a lot of game knowledge and a safe but cocky playstile, much like the god himself this requires an almost bipolar sense of when to go in.
Teamfights are almost inevitable and a good team will set you and the ADC up for those spicy kills, keep in mind though, that your teammates aren't pros(if they are, props to them). The best you can do is often to get defense first and focus on pen and damage later when everyone comes online. The role of the mid is to get the utility and silences as well as slows and stuns together or make it easier for himself and others to get kills, and this doesn't always fit with Agni' playstile. Agni makes more kill oppertunities than most other gods in the game, use this to get yourself some good 'ol kills and set up your team to get in position for the rad gankage.

I see you've updated this, but you still list Hastened Fatalis as an item option. You should replace it with Hastened Ring because HF was removed a few patches ago.
