Explanation of build is listed below.

The only thing that changes with this build is you'll be picking up Winged Blade a lot sooner. You should only ever do this if the other team has a lot of slows and you're being camped. It significantly reduces your damage output in the mid game but allows you to be a lot safer and not feed your brains out. I'd rather be less effective in the mid game skirmishes while keeping up with the opposing mid than get absolutely farmed and lose the game because of it. In this build you'll be selling boots for Tahuti.
Less pots more damage early, you'll still buy Pendulum of Ages at level 20.
So I'll try to breakdown the importance of each item and why the order is the way it is as best I can. Basically after the start you're just playing to live until you can back for boots I went with Shoes of the Magi over Shoes of Focus for the extra power and the lifesteal is a nice bonus for staying in lane and farming even if it's only 8%. Shoes of Focus can be nice for the cooldown but as you get later in your build you would hit 40% which is fine but I prefer to only ever hit 30% and buy 500 pot for the last 10%.
Charon's Coin should always be the first item after boots so you can get stacks as early as possible this will give you some extra speed to avoid being chased down and the pen on it is super nice to have. I put Doom Orb next to help stay safe with even more movement speed plus the mana sustain you get from it helps to spam abilities and stay in lane longer. Spear of Desolation is just a great item right now it's seen in almost every mage build so I don't feel the need to explain why it's here. Tahuti is the newest addition to this build previously I was picking up Warlock's Staff for the extra health but being forced to start Warlock's so you can build stacks ASAP didn't feel very good and also delayed stacking Charon's Coin. Tahuti has only 5 less power than a fully stacked Warlock's Staff, boasts the same amount of pen, and has 30 mp5 which more than makes up for losing the bonus 200 mana Warlock's provides. The only down side is you miss out on a good amount of HP but that is somewhat remedied by the bonus damage Tahuti gives you to low health enemies.
Now to try and explain why you picked Sands of Time when Conduit Gem is so good, Conduit Gem is great but normally in a build with it you pick up Chronos Pendant somewhere along the way. Chronos Pendant is a great item but I can't find a place for it, every item in this build is there for a reason and that's to make Ah Puch not feel like a walking dumpster fire. I also feel that Sands of Time doesn't get the respect it deserves because of how good Conduit Gem is. Sands of Time may not be that amazing as a starter but once you upgrade it to Pendulum of Ages I think it perfectly rounds out the build. For starters you get 190 power from it with it's passive and with the amount of MP5 in the build you will almost always have the passive close to full power, Pendulum of Ages also gives you the 20% cooldown reduction that you miss out on for not building Chronos Pendant which feels so so good. If you're okay with missing out on 20% cooldown feel free to replace Pendulum with Archmage's Gem for more burst.
Last but not least selling boots for Winged Blade to finish the build gives you a fat 491 movement speed with no Doom Orb stacks and gives you the benefit of not getting absolutely dumpstered by any god with a slow, if you've never picked up Winged Blade on Ah Puch I will tell you from experience that it is such a game changer. The slow immunity and bonus movement speed will keep you alive in so many situations where you should get locked down and have the color robbed from your screen. The health this item provides is also a nice touch, along with the crowd control reduction helping to make up for not having CC immunity in your kit pairs nicely with the 30 magical prots giving you just a little bit of tankiness you didn't have before. Most importantly building Winged Blade doesn't dampen your damage too much as you'll still have a nice burst in fights.
Ah Puch has been one of my favorite gods since I started playing Smite and quite frankly I'm sick and tired of seeing every content creator list him at the bottom of the tier list. I've spent hours in jungle practice testing different combinations of items to make Ah Puch shine as the cookie cutter mage build wasn't working for him. After hours of theory crafting and a couple games both casual and ranked I've finally found a build that makes Ah Puch usable at the very least if not a top pick.
One massive pro to playing Puch in your ranked games is that not a lot of people respect his damage or even know how to play against him because of how bad people make him out to be. They especially won't expect you to be zooming around the map at mach 5. One massive con is that you're still playing Ah Puch and hard CC will destroy you if your beads are down, but hey every mage is susceptible to getting deleted after a stun.
