Introduction

Hi everybody, this is my Guide for the brand new god Ah Puch horrific god of decay. He is super fun to play but he is just a little bit complicated to play him correctly. If you want some visuals on how to play him, I recommend watching Lassiz play him, he's pretty damn good with his timing.

Items

Starting Items
This is a pretty standard starting build for most mages and if it ain't broke don't fix it. This will give you the sustain that you need at the beginning of the game before Ah Puch passive becomes OP.

Shoes of the Magi
The meta right now is to get Shoes of Focus, because his abilities have a short cooldown timer, I feel the extra 250 mana and 35 extra magic power are a lot better suited for him. Plus his passive works well with the additional mana and already includes some CDR.

Warlock's SashWarlock's Sash
Really not much to explain here except to build this item on him not matter what. This item is just perfect for Ah Puch. This is the best item in the game for his passive and gives a big boost in terms of magic power for him. The reason you buy this item 2nd and not 1st, is because you need the extra movement speed asap. (He's really easy to gank, no escape) Once you have this built and at 100 stacks, you can put you evil mask on cause damn.

Spear of the Magus
Spear of the Magus is probably the best penetration item in the game for Ah Puch. The passive of this item stacks with Ah Puch's ultimate, so this will allow your ultimate to do a pretty decent amount of damage. You can also do a combo of 1-3-2 and then well, they just die.

Bancroft's Talon
At this point in the game you want to finish that Tiny Trinket. The reason I choose Bancroft's is because of the massive amount of magic power it gives. Plus the passive is really good as well. There are a couple of lifesteal options you can choose if you like.

Gem of Isolation
Gem is also pretty OP on Ah Puch. Once you have this built, if they don't use Purification Beads for your ultimate, then they are gonna have a bad time. This will also allow you to zone out objectives(Gold Fury/Fire Giant/Towers) with you ultimate with ease.

Rod of Tahuti
Nothing to add for this item. It's really just a must for all mages.

Skills

Hollow Ground
Ah Puch is closely attuned with the dead and may exhume corpses at his will. When walking over a decaying corpse, Ah Puch lowers the cooldown of Undead Surge and Corpse Explosion by 2s, restores 6% of his maximum Health and 3% of his maximum Mana.
Max Corpses: 6
Corpse Lifetime: 45s

This passive is really OP. It doesn't become really noticeable until you build those stack up on Warlocks Sash though. Great if you need to heal up a little bit without using any mana. Also be aware, emery gods can destroy your zombies in 2 hits.

Undead Surge
Ah Puch raises up to two decaying corpses from the underworld that surge forward exploding on anything they touch, when they reach max distance, or when Ah Puch reactivates Undead Surge dealing damage and slowing targets hit. The corpses collapse after exploding remaining behind.
Damage: 90/110/130/150/170 (+35% of your magical power)
Slow: 40%
Slow Duration: 3s
Corpses Dropped: 1/1/1/2/2
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Cost: 70/80/90/100/110 mana

This ability is great for the utility it can offer Ah Puch. You want to get this to at least rank 4 to get the additional zombie before you max any other ability. This will allow you to utilize Hollow Ground to the maximum making you just stupid to deal with mid/late game. You will also lower your cooldowns by 4 sec if you collect both zombies. Also obviously you will be able to do additional damage with the 2nd zombie. Be aware, once you let your zombies go, they will just go in a strait line and blow up upon contact with anything. You can press the ability again though to blow the zombies up early.

Corpse Explosion
Ah Puch causes the target area to explode dealing damage. Corpse Explosion also causes any decaying corpses in the area to explode.
Initial Damage: 60/70/80/90/100 (+10% of your magical power)
Damage per Corpse: 60/85/110/135/160 (+25% of your magical power)
With 6 corpses, this ability can deal up to 420/580/740/900/1060 (+160% of your magical power) damage.
Radius/Corpse Radius: 20/25
Cooldown: 8 seconds
Cost: 60/70/80/90/100 mana

This is the ability that separates the good from the great players. It's all about timing with this one. The goal with the ability is to be able to blow up the zombies as well to do the additional damage. When you use Corpse Explosion there is a bit of a delay before the ability goes off. For those who have played Nox, it's very similar to her 3 in terms of a delay. Because of this, as soon as you cast either Undead Surge or Fleeting Breath(then while those abilities are in the air about to land on the ground), cast Corpse Explosion. That will ensure that as soon as your 1 or 3 get there, the zombies will blow up. Your can have some insane burst if you time this correctly. As a reminder, if you blow up the zombies, you will not be able to walk over them and get the passive buff.

Fleeting Breath
Ah Puch throws a charm from the underworld which awakens a decaying corpse that applies miasma(will cause a DOT to happen in conditions are met) to targets in an area and falls to the ground, remaining behind. Targets take damage every second. After the duration, targets take additional damage and are stunned for each time they were healed by an ability during the initial duration. This ability can deal up to 360/470/580/690/800 (+175 of your magical power), with a maximum stun duration of 2.5s.
Damage per Tick: 32/34/36/38/40 (+15% of your magical power)
Additional Damage: 20/30/40/50/60 (+10% of your magical power) per Heal (Max 10)
Stun Duration: 1s plus 0.5s per Heal (Max 3s)
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Cost: 70 mana

This is a ability which can really set your team up to dominate in a team fight. Really any god that apply HOTS (heals over time spell), you just completely shut them down. This means any god that can heal, it harms them more than it helps them. Your can seriously mind **** a Geb/Afro/Zhong with this ability.

Empty the Crypts
Ah Puch unleashes an army of Wraiths from the Ninth Hell that swarm forward and deal damage to enemies they collide with and apply a stacking slow.
Wraiths disappear after colliding with their target.
This ability can slow for a maximum of 56%.
Damage per Wraith: 40/50/60/70/80 (+10% of your magical power)
Slow Duration: 2s
Slow: 7% (Max 8 Stacks)
Cooldown: 90 seconds
Cost: 100/110/120/130/140 mana

You can have a lot of fun with his ultimate and if you use it in the right spot, it's pretty OP. It's one of the best engages/disengages in the game. This paired with Gem of Isolation is really just abusing the game. Empty the Crypts is also great at securing objectives like Gold Fury/Fire Giant.

Combo's

For max damage (when healing)

For max damage (not healing)

With ult

Pros / Cons

Pro's

    Insane Burst
New God... New gods are almost always OP
Very fast clear time at a low level (can clear waves by level 6)
    Zoning champ
    Great poke
3 cc abilities as a mage
Can secure objective with his presence
When rotating can gank a lane very well with Ult

Con's
Probably is the squishiest god in the game
    No mobility at all
If playing against smart people will get ganked and most likely die
    Will get focused hardcore
Very mana hungry (have to be careful early game

Matchup's

Agni

This is a tough match up for Ah Puch. Because of his low mobility agni can actually just rain fire on you (literally and figuratively). You want to play passively against him and focus on sustaining in your lane. Ah Puch has a slight advantage in terms of poke though early game.

Anubis

Almost like a mirror match in terms of play style. The goal is to keep your distance from Anubis and focus on poking him down, then just using your burst to kill him. Watch out for Mummify though, if you get caught with that your probably gonna die.

Chronos'

Do not play Ah Puch .vs. Chronos' or your gonna have a bad time.

Hebo

Just use your poke to zone him out. Be careful of his insane burst though. He he is aggressive, call for a gank then ult. He will be all sorts of dead then.

Isis

Isis destroys all gods with no mobility so this isn't the greatest match up. You are going to get spirit balled for days. Again, just try to zone and poke to get control of the lane.

Janus

Same as chronos', do not pick Ah Puch .vs. Janus

Poseidon

You have to be careful to avoid his 3-4-1 combo so as usual just poke and zone

Ra

Ah Puch is a great counter pick to Ra. Every time Ra uses their 3 to heal, you use your 3 to counter. This will make them very frustrated because they won't have much sustain. This is one of the best match up's for Ah Puch.

Scylla

Haveing no mobility .vs. Scylla is always tough. You will be able to clear waves pretty fast though. Just focus on farming and building up Warlock's so you don't get combo'd to death. 2-1-4

Team Fights

Ah Puch isn't the greatest in the laneing, but can pretty much make your team win 5v5 fights. With that ultimate, just lay that down on a couple of the enemy gods (ADC/Assassin if possible). You cannot fight in that. The slows add up a lot faster then you would think, plus you can take a pretty sizable amount of damage from the wraith's. Also to counter any HOT spells they have, spam your 3. Can and will shut down Sylvanus/Afro heal

Hello, I was trying out a lot of build on smite for Ah Puch, and let me tell you that this is honestly the best one that there is out there. I've been in Jungle practice for a while now and this one is honestly better than all. It's not that squishy, and it does damage for days! Keep up the great work bro.

Im not saying you can't, really it means your a better player then the other people so congrats on that. But if two people with equal skill(one Janus and one Ah Puch, Janus has the advantage because of his insane mobility. If the Janus can position himself correctly for Unstable Vortex, the poke can be insane. Plus whenever Ah Puch tries to pick up the corpses, as Janus you should make him pay with the Portal Unstable Vortex combo. All of this though depends on how good the person is with Ah Puch. I have even beaten a pre-nurfed Bellona with a Chaac.... that shouldn't happen, but it's all up to the players skill and understanding of both the god they are playing, as well as the gods they are going up against.

I don't understand why Janus is a bad matchup... I've beaten many Janus players as puch.
