Simple starting build. The stacks of Arcane Energy help with early wave clear and has very strong poke potential from level 2. Be careful, you don't have as much sustain if you were to go Talon Trinket
Some defensive options. Go to should be Book of the dead since you can survive longer using ult whilst also receiving benefit of Bancroft.
Blink rune is great if you want to play aggressive early on. Use it at level 5 to gank other lanes that are pushed forward or vulnerable. The other relics are situational.
Welcome to my first guide for Anubis!
This is an Anubis Mid-build for casual and ranked season 9, both have worked well for me personally. This guide is here for anyone to use, even if you're casual or competitive. The goal for this build is to provide very high sustain in lane as well as pumping out massive amounts of damage. Getting early kills REALLY helps with this build, but do not play aggressively if it's not safe. Ganking is also made simple due to the big window of opportunity you have with Mummify and the slow from your Grasping Hands.
Please feel free to take this a seriously as you like. There is a written guide as well as the build so do what you will with it.
This guide covers:
Items
Skills
Playstyles
From early on, Conduit Gem will be the most powerful wave clear item, and is best used carefully. If the enemy mid-laner is lacking in damage then use the stacks of Arcane energy to poke. Grasping Hands uses all stacks on each enemy. Your tiny trinket doesn't provide much sustain but that is what the health potion is for. If you manage to out- damage your opponent, they will play defensively and back up. This is not an excuse to chase however, because you are vulnerable to ganks early on.
Once you have your Bancroft's Talon, you are more or less safe. The sustain it gives is mental, alongside you passive, and it only get better with Typhon's Fang. If it's safe and you feel you're at an advantage, always back for the T2 item: Talon Trinket. The magical power buff it provides will help secure more early kills.
Your third item will usually be your defensive item, since it is at that point in the game where enemy support and solo-laner begins to gank, making your life miserable. It will give you more sustain and give a fighting chance.
The other items are just OP, the last, Obsidian Shard being optional to get some more dmg on to those pesky warriors and tanks. And Archmage's Gem is just great all around.
When considering which abilities to use, there is an aggressive playstyle, a chilled back playstyle, and a defensive playstle.
Aggressive- This should be the optimal way to play Anubis, especially when you are at an advantage. If you notice that the jungler is dead, or the enemy mid-laner's dash is down, go in. You can use your Blink Rune, or simply chase them down.
For beginners, I would recommend using mummify first, and then placing your Grasping Hands down on top of them. This should take a decent bit of health away from them.
For more versed players, placing the Grasping Hands down first, and them Mummify usually guarantees all ticks from your Grasping Hands.
If the situation allows it, for example, if you are ~ 50-60% health and the enemy is also around the same, use Mummify, and then just ult them straight away. It makes it easier to get all the ticks on them. If they are still not dead, they will try to run. At that point, slow them down with Grasping Hands.
Chilled- If you are nervous about making risky/aggressive plays, that's okay! Anubis doesn't need to be aggressive to be effective in the team. The worst thing to do is die, giving your enemies the advantage and making the enemy mid-laner more powerful. Instead, hold back behind your ranged minions and line up your Grasping Hands as best you can. Be careful though because a lot of abilities can travel through minions and hit you as well.
Defensive- When in a vulnerable spot, or being ganked, it can be hard to figure out what to do. Fortunately, you have some options, though not always obvious. To start of with, you can run! Thinking ahead can usually save your life, for example, if someone in your team calls out that an enemy is missing in their lane, it might be because they are about to gank you. Going closer to your tower will prevent this disaster from happening.
Due to your sustain with your items, you can usually out fight a ganker, especially if your jungler is with you. If you feel the need to run however, USE YOUR ABILITIES.
Mummify can be a 2s stun at max rank, making it easy to create distance between you and the enemy. And if you are in the jungle, place your Grasping Hands down as well. This makes an almost unavoidable field of damage, which also slows them, giving you more of a chance to escape.
