this is an Anubis build that works in joust and conquest,i have not tested any where else. but proof that it works is in my last 5 games i have found my self getting at least 10 kills each game in one of those games i went 22-1.i like this Anubis build a lot and would advise using this build you can try it out and if u don't like it move on, but if u do please leave a thumbs up and comment in the comment section ,enjoy!
the reason you start out with tier 2 boots and tier 1 Bancroft's talon is because, early game no one is going to be doing insane damage but if u just keep clearing wave and an occasional poke to enemy god you will start too farm in gold normally in my games the first time i go back to base i can finish off shoes of magi, and build tier 2 of Bancroft's talon.once u do this u go back to lane and start farming again then go back and finish Bancroft's talon.once u get those first 2 items you wont die for awhile unless if u chase or get ganked, because your passive steals protections and gives life steal for every tick damage, plus Bancroft's talon helps out there, plus gives you an extra 100 magical power so you can heal and deal mass damage at the same time.next you will build book of Thoth, because by now you will realize you don't have much mana too spend on abilities and need stacks for power(i would not advise getting warlocks sash because it is weaker than book of Thoth, and u don't need health right now.next u build obsidian shard for insane boost of magical power and penetration, then spear of magus because all of your abilities are tick damage, and spear of magus is the way too go.then you finish of with good old rod of tahuti just to double everything (including the deaths of your enemies).
Anubis's first skill is called plague of locust and you shoot locust's out of your mouth in a cone and does tick damage.for his second skill, you shoot out mummy warps form your staff and mummifies the enemy, stunning them ranging from 1 sec. to 2 sec. depending on the skill level.for the third skill ,you put down a wide aoe(area of effect) that slows and also does tick damage.for the fourth ability(his ult),you shoot a long laser beam that penetrates and goes through anything it touches(including walls, gods, and minions, etc.)this skill as well hits for tick damage.except the bad thing about his first ability and ult you are standing still until the duration ends.
pro's:
-insane damage
-shreds any tank
-insane life steal
-easy get away and ability to save friendly gods
-great wave clear
-easy to farm
-hard to counter
-easy to box
-good at breaking up team fights
-good at engaging and starting a team fight
-decent starting protections
-great at ganking
con's:
-squishy
-medium cooldown time
-stands still while casting abilities
-stuns can stop him from casting his 1 but not his ult.
-1 makes him vulnerable
-easy to die when ganked
when playing ranked i advise not to push ad engage until you have at least 20 stacks of book of Thoth that is when you have enough magical damage and health to attack, withstand, and get the kill.but now be careful about who you are playing against because if they are aggressive them let them push you then lay down your 2,3,4 combo, and that should be a secure kill.once your build is finished your build and you are lvl 20 you can just about one shot anything.gold fury, gods, even titan.once phoenix's are down get to the titan lay down your 3 then ult titan and then its dead and that's a win you just bagged up.
this is all for the Anubis build if you have any questions,or suggestions for my build please leave a comment and don't forget to hit that thumbs up for me,now good luck in your next games and i sense some face melting in your future.

tanky characters have a lot of HP and some protections but not as much as a tank and can do more damage because of that. however because the lack the protections they are easy enough to kill with 1 mpen item.
if you are building pen against a team that hasn't build protections, the pen isn't as useful as more power. only magic pen you would need is that from shoes or base pen from spear (this makes spear or The Executioner better then shard or Titan's Bane when a target has less then 200 protections) and for most classes only gain physical protections per lvl and keep sitting on the 30 base magic protections.
Also taking shard and spear or executioner and titan is pretty bad as spear and executioner remove protections while shard and titan penetrate. This makes both shard and titan worse for every stack of executioner or spear as there are less protections to penetrate
I don't really agree on anubis needing CDR a lot I would sooner take ICEN's build (he was an anubis main his build is slightly outdated however it still works):
Bancroft's Talon- Boots of the Magi- Gem of Isolation- Spear of the Magus- Soul Reaver- Rod of Tahuti (you can swap rod and soul slots with each other)
And yes I'm really going to suggest Gem of Isolation it helps you get of more ticks of your ult or 1 (I don't believe the slow stacked for your 3)
Also I'm missing some combo's like the Grasping Hands into Mummify into Plague of Locusts/ Death Gaze (yes hands make it easier to hit mumiffy and increases your dps.
Im always seeing Spear of the Magus over Obsidian Shard
Can someone help me understand what situations I would choose which over which.
I know GGF mentioned it a bit, but id like to know more.
Spear of the Magus should be used on gods with tick damage, because it offers more pen that way. Gods like Vulcan or Scylla can use Obsidian Shard.
Also you list under the pros that Anubis has an "easy getaway". Would you care to elaborate, as with no escapes in his kit, and no actives listed in your build then I would say he has essentially zero getaway potential with your build.

Spear of the Magus is more than enough for penetration and can be achieved easily since its all tick damage, getting Obsidian Shard is more for one-shot abilities. If you want to keep on killing, you know just in case you waste your abilities on one god then another comes, you are going to need CDR. Without abilities, Anubis becomes worthless.
