Check of these items shown can all be good for Aphrodite in it's on way META or not. The main item you should look at is "Divine Ruin" this is so important when fight another Aphrodite,healers or lifesteal users. If you happen to see something of what i mention out the 3 listed. Buy divine ruin over any item in the build.
Shell is only useful fighting too much gods who use more basic attacks over abilities. If you happen to get in a game where the enemy team more basic attack than liabilities please buy these two relics (BEADS+SHELL).

Please copy everything I've added in the Level 1 Start above. The starts are bit different for what build root you want to choose.
Gem Starter Item Aphrodite Mid Lane:
First completed item need to be[Shoes of Focus]for the movement speed, mana, Cooldown and power early game.
-Next item-
Chronos Pendant - Aphrodite will be able to use her abilities as often as possible and having MP5 to regain the mana lost slowly.
-Next item-
Magical Penetration, the reason why I haven't name the item is because you'll need to pick either Anti-heal or more damage penetration. If you happen to have healers or life steal Gods within your game you need to buy (Divine Ruin). If there Isn't any you can buy Spear of Magus or Spear of deso what will make you much stronger.
-Next item-
Sentinel's Embrace - This will make up for not having Lotus Crown as defence however it's better in some situations. As it can be shared between teammates and also giving you a good amount to survive with health too.(Please remember to check your own supports Starter Item first before using this build path).
-Next item-
Charon's coin - Is a really good item once it's stacked and the item overall will allow you to takedown tanks easily. Once stacked you gain better stats with movement to make Aphrodite a harder target to kill. If you happen to be on the losing team you can buy another item over the coin for example spear of magus, Obsidian, Soul reaver or Divine Ruin. You can pick one of these items if you happen to be on the losing team. You can still buy the coin when you are on the losing team. It just won't be stacked till very later in the game or never.
-Next item-
Rod of Tahuti increase Aphrodite's healing and power which also increases healing when the Soulmate is below 50% Health only or herself too. When enemies are below 50% health they will take more damage too.
-Last item-
Please read the info below this one before continuing to buy items. Once you've done that the last item you could be needing is Mantle of Discord or Soul reaver if you want to be unkillable but the trade off is losing power which isn't extreme.
Once you've brought 6 items you need to buy the "Consumable" called Elixir of Speed. It will allow you to have 18% movement speed when you sell Shoes of Focus. The reason for you to sell Shoes of Focus is because you want to have another item for it. Please remember to NOT sell Shoes of Focus if you haven't brought Elixir of Speed and have the gold for Mantle of Discord.
[RELICS] Aphrodite should always buy "Purification Beads" FIRST at Level 1. Once you reach Level 12 you can buy "Aegis Amulet" or "Magic Shell". Normally you should buy Aegis at level 12 however if you are fighting gods based of Auto Attack a.k.a (AAs) like a Hunter mid lane, Auto-Attack Carry and Auto-Attack Jungle. Buy Magic Shell as it's more useful and better but you need to upgrade it around Level 18-20 which will cost 500 Gold.
SoT Starter Item Aphrodite Mid Lane:

Lotus Crown - This item will make Aphrodite and her soulmate harder to kill each time she heals the soulmate. However Aphrodite benefits more from the item than her soulmate as she's doesn't always need to heal to get the extra defence. Lotus crown 3rd item makes physical gods have a harder time killing you as Aphrodite is the main target to die first out of all the teammates.

My Aphrodite Mid build doesn't have % Penetration. I know the difference between flat pen and % Pen however Aphrodite Mid lane mainly wins fights from sustain by healing teammate to out survive the enemies. You can build maybe 10% or 20% if you like with Soul reaver to burst down high HP based gods. Then again she's doesn't need a crazy amount like other mages due to her winning fights not off damage but out surviving by healing pokes, mistakes and all in attacks.
