This is an Apollo build I use for Solo. I have consistently good performance (66% winrate in Conquest) with positive K/D/A's.
PROS:
[*] Global Presence
[*] Very Mobile
[*] Has very good structure DPS and split pushing capabilities in general
[*] Can apply pressure to one lane and quickly rotate to another to take advantage of that prssure
CONS:
[*] His ultimate uses a lot of mana if you want to go far. From fountain to enemy Tier 2 Tower, it will use about 45% of his mana.
[*] His only form of Crown Control is a Mezmerize, which can easily be interrupted by creeps or teammates. However, if you're in a 1v1 engagement, this can be very very useful because it lasts a long time.
Starts:
Start 1: Solo Side Mid Harpies -> Mana Buff -> Jungler goes to Mid Lane, you go to Solo.
Start 2: Solo Side Back Harpies -> Mana Buff -> Solo Lane Boar -> Jungler goes to Mid Lane, you go to solo.
If you get to lane first, just auto attack the wave and save your 1 until you see the enemy come in. Auto attack them (don't be afraid to take creep aggro if there's only like 3 creeps left. Just be aware if there's an oncoming wave.) and use your 1 almost exclusively to poke the opposing solo laner. Do not use your 1 to clear unless you absolutely have to, throwing bow passive plus Audacity is more than enough to clear.
If you force them under tower, abuse this and keep them there until they eventually have to back. Use this opportunity to steal their boar, and/or do Fire Elementals. Go back to lane and rinse/repeat. When playing Apollo, you usually want to focus on poke and constant farm. This doesn't mean Apollo must play passive, as his kill potential is very good during the first few levels.
[*] You can build your passive (Audacity) from auto attacking buff creeps outside of the circle of the camp so that they are immune.
[*] Place wards in the jungle opening by their phoenix, and keep the lane pushed. Look out for opportunities where the enemy team is distracted for you to teleport and try to take a phoenix or even backdoor.
[*] Your 1 (So Beautiful) goes through walls.
[*] Don't ult to split push, teleport to wards and save your ult to get out, or even ult to another lane and push there instead if you want to be cheeky.
There are a few other items I like to get on Apollo given different circumstances. Some of these might seem crazy but they are very situational, but when that situation DOES come, it works.
I like to get Ninja Tabi if I don't plan on building much attack speed from other items. Helps keep your DPS up. |
Yes, I know Hide of the Urchin sounds weird and disgusting on Apollo, but if you've seen Gamehunter get it on Apollo solo, you know how this whole thing works. It goes well with split push builds, since it helps you out on being a bit more tanky, which is always nice when split pushing. |
If I get The Crusher for split pushing purposes, then I don't buy Ichaival, I buy Ninja Tabi instead of Warrior Tabi, and I get Hide of the Urchin as my situational instead of Deathbringer. Keep Asi and Qin's Sais |
If you don't want to get Hide of the Urchin and you just want to keep Ichaival and Warrior Tabi then get Brawlers last item as a swap out for Deathbringer. |
and | If you'd like to go the crit route, you can get Rage and Deathbringer for your last 2 items (and sell Rage for Malice |
Apollo solo is easy to learn, very fun to play, and hard to master. Just keep practicing and you'll learn in time how to juke with your mez, split pushing strategies, etc.
