Facing magic damage

Notes The frost bound hammer works better than the hastened katana against mages and the like because it helps to keep them out of position allowing your teammates to close the distance to you, instead of keeping the pace with fast assassins. It aslo gives a decent health boost which will help you survive nukers like vulcan or scylla. As always boots should be replaced, preferably by mobility potion and witchblade. If you are still having trouble smashing through defenses, any offensive item can be replaced with the executioner or titans bane.

Notes Skipping boots wont hurt you as much as you think. Play safe engage when your team needs pressure or you see a chance to secure a kill. Mantle of discord can be replaced with spirit robe if you find yourself getting tons of hard CC (which will destroy bellona)

A few tips and tricks

Bellona can be picked up easily but takes far more time to master than folks give her credit for. The hardest part is knowing when to use her kit.

Her passive is pretty straight forward and doesnt require much of an explanation as you wont need to keep track of it.

Her shield stance should be used when facing auto attack gods. Shes a great boxer as long as she doesnt get overwhelmed. For every 3 hits with her auto she gets a stack of block, preventing auto attack damage one time. This is why auto attack should be prioritized as much as damage and defense.

Her hammer is a great tool for clearing minion wave as it does sweep damage. Slam them all and make it come down on archers for damage control. Do not END in this stance though. You will have a much harder time dueling gods with your hammer up. Use it to to close kills or get a combo started. Your much better off switching from hammer to shield or scourge. This is her strongest ability and hitting multiple gods beefs up the power, just make certain youre not ending in this stance unless you plan on immediately retreating

Scourge is your bread and butter for everything else. Not only does it have extended reach it also heals you for every third hit. This is a great way to heal up deep in the arena by whipping around some minions. More importantly though, hitting an enemy god initially causes a disarm. This is less effective on your end, but can save a squishy from being deleted from an auto attack god.

Your ultimate should be used primarily as a closer (not an engage unless they're under 25% health.) Or as an escape. Its a far leap and give brief crowd control immunity. A well timed ult can slam down on an ares, negating the pull and buffing all your allies that were unfortunate enough to get caught. Dont be afraid to use it to secure a kill or escape, its your most powerful leap and longest distance. Make sure to hit the center for the stun and damage or to cast as quickly as possible for the escape.

Tips-
- dont play deep and stupid. If you have no team members within 50 units, you may have trouble doing much of anything. The only exception to this rule is if you have singled someone out. Bellona makes a single enemy an easy target.

-you are not an engage heavy god. Dont start the fight, but also dont be afraid to enter it. Let your team do a bit of peeling then go ham.

-play around with items. Bellonas unique kit and playstyle make many items useful. My suggestions are a basic guide snd you can honestly make her work in many ways

-if you see a team that has tons of hard CC (cabrakan, Poseidon, artio, vamana, erlang shen, etc) build CC reduction. It will make so much of a difference.

-if someone takes red buff in the beginning, thats okay. Purple or blue will benefit you too, especially early game. Stick to purple and red for the last half.

-dont be afraid to throw yourself on a squishy friend to both body block and to displace damage. You can soak up quite a bit of violence, and your teammates will be thankful.

-remember, you are a scary bully, and as long as they dont focus you with CC, you should be free to smash, whip, and slash to your hearts content.

-to deal with healers, if they are a physical god build beatstick and if they are magical build pestilence. If they are aphro or hel, build both.

on the last build, I would really put Witchblade right after katana and then run thebes and the rest after. She does have the passive, but it is situational. you would probably have a bit better luck if you are dead set on running no boots that way and want to keep your build. I think you would see better results with your full ms earlier.

On that top build example I would definitely not go that long without adding straight defense or offensive items that provide health. That is way too long to not boost your health. I understand you want the cooldown and hastened is a fun item, but Gauntlet of Thebes Blackthorn Hammer Masamune Void Shield would be some different options at the 2 and having BoV at the 3 depending on what you are trying to do.
