Athena has a very good laning phase when paired with even a decent clear hunter, take advantage of this as it can easily lead to you snowballing the other support in levels. In a 2v2 situation, Athena is one of the best supports since she can focus all her CC and damage onto one target and pull them severely out of position.
Don't take her passive for granted, it can easily help the hunter clear, and has even been used to secure objectives and kills many times, every little bit of damage counts.
Don't waste your cooldowns in a team fight by taunting a single person, go for big taunts, not singular ones (unless that one enemy happens to be a hard carry and you are in a position to kill them, then you can single them out.).
Her ult is also damage mitigation to the god it is applied on, and it's a significant amount too. A point blank ult isn't always a bad idea, should you think that your carry could be bursted by an enemy, ulting them for the damage mitigation is a great strategy. (But peeling is still better.)
Athena is a top tier support, with high mobility and some of the best peel in the game. Though she does have her weak points, this goddess has always been, and always will be one of the top supports in any meta. This build has been tested over the course of many months in high level play and against multiple pro teams, it has constantly been changed with the meta and should finally be strong enough to share with the world.
Pros:
Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.
