I use this build in joust a lot its good for his AOE ability its smacks people.
This build is for full on power plays it lets you get aggressive with your target and puts pressure on the enemy. If you feel like your gonna die no worries! just use your consign spirits ability to get your health back its pretty much a peel and execute build but it has some true power to it.
Good luck to all you baron fans out there thought i would make this build simple.
Smite is an online battleground between mythical gods. Players choose from a selection of gods, join session-based arena combat and use custom powers and team tactics against other players and minions. Smite is inspired by Defense of the Ancients (DotA) but instead of being above the action, the third-person camera brings you right into the combat. And, instead of clicking a map, you use WASD to move, dodge, and fight your way through the detailed graphics of SMITE's battlegrounds.

For Joust I'd start with Mage's Blessing, Tiny Trinket, Baron's Brew, and Mana Potions so I can stay out as long as possible. I would then finish Bancroft's Talon and buy either Shoes of Focus or Shoes of the Magi depending upon team comps (I'd go magi if against a squishy comp and focus for more tanky ones). Then I'd either get Chronos' Pendant or Spear of the Magus, which ever one I didn't buy, and Gem of Isolation or a situational item like Divine Ruin or some type of defense like Hide of the Urchin if needed. Situational items to round out the build would be things like Soul Reaver, Rod of Tahuti, Spear of Desolation, or a defense item like Mantle of Discord or Magi's Cloak. I would swap magus for Obsidian Shard if I was the only magical dealer and the enemy had 2+ that were building magical defenses. You can also swap talon for Pythagorem's Piece if you're more focused on utility than damage depending upon your team comp.
