This is my "The game is going amazingly well lets start to ramp things up" build
Against the tougher opponents, I would general advise a more, cautionary build. If you see an Achilles for example. But you can still be a bit of a mixed build approach if things are going alright

Hello everyone!
This is just a quick semi-meme semi-fun guide to what to build and how to play our calamari himself. This is not conquest specific, but you could build him this way in Conquest I bet.
Enjoy!
Pros:
- Absolute Unit (alot of health for tankiness base)
- Smacks in lane (high damage output for a guardian)
- Decent burst damage and general nuisance
- Can have excellent CC teamfight engagements and longevity
- Insanity can be really helpful in team fights
Cons:
- Qins/Reaver etc makes sushi out of your booty
- You are hella chonky (almost impossible to miss)
- Executable (Achilles no, don't do it, I'm...a virgin
- Can get CC'd out of mire easily, and if they are skilful, his dash
- Insanity can be unreliable to stack and his passive cannot be depended upon
Now, with all that in mind, here's a very quick summary of how I enjoy playing him, not necessarily the most effective.
Step 1: Hyper but controlled aggression (all game)
You want to stack you passive as much as possible and to this you've got to get in their faces screaming all kinds of Ah'mglw'nafh's and glw'na's. Honestly ask anyone who's played against him, a good aggressive Cthulhu is a literal nightmare to deal with as he is just so pervasive and does such high damage it is hard to ignore him
Step 2: Life steal til they cry
As you can see in the build, I opt for a more novel approach (coined partially by my friend and messed around with by me) of using life steal to clap some booty. His sustain regardless is insane, and with a high base damage items like Bancrofts and Typhons only serve to increase that damage and get some sustain in return. Add ethereal in later and you got yourself on tanky boi
Step 3: ez kills
If you are going down this route, you will be fighting for top damage against your friends (trust me, done it many times for fun). Though I have seen some reviews say he is hard to kill secure with, due to low mobility etc in his ult, I find that not difficult when you push a teamfight, hit them with all your base abilities, ult and then it's literally mopping up at that point. Squishes are your prime target as tanks can out sustain you (especially Achilles and Hercules). If you have an aggressive team/ you communicate well you can dive towers lvl 5 and wipe teams who think they're safe from ANGARIE Squidward. Having high mobility damage gods like Set, who I play alongside alot, can mean very dirty plays.
I hope you enjoyed this more, casual approach. If you want to comment or disagree with anything let me know. I almost have this big boi rank 5 now so I do enjoy playing him and have tried alot of builds. Full damage life steal just is the most fun, but the traditional guardian play style is definitely viable
