Hi there! My name is Zeebone aka Fartingonfarts. This will be my first ever guide. I have been playing Smite for about 2 months now. I have grown to love Chaac since he came out(actually I haven't played any other god since :p) So here is my guide to his dirt nasty face melting ability.
EDIT: 12/22/13- Added Farming Methods section as well as "Key to sustain" section.
EDIT: 12/23/13- Changed to Arena only guide as this is not optimized for Conquest yet.
EDIT: 12/24/13- Added a new physical reduction build. I plan to add a health based build as well.
EDIT: 12/24/13- Added skill sequence.
NOTE: This build is not a typical warrior guide. If you are searching for a tanky guide then this is not it. This guide focuses on damage aka melting faces.
BUILD 1:
Rage: I start with Rage first. If in arena I always start with the level 1 rage and then make an early back to get my level 1 boots and then finish buying Rage as the game progresses. I do this for a couple of reasons. First off is the damage(I mean why not?) lol. Second you have a built in slow with your 3 ability so the movement speed isn't needed until later. The main reason I choose this over Malice is because of the attack speed to make his passive more active. This build is focused around attack speed mostly to ensure his passive gets used to its max potential. In doing so will provide greater sustain due to Rain Dance(3)
Boots: Prety obvious, you always need boots. I like the physical pen more than CDR because you get items later on for CDR.
Qin's Sais: There has been some debate over Qin's Sais vs Qin's Blades. I prefer the sais because of the damage increase as your attack your enemies. It's not constant dps like the blades, but increases as you attack. I think the increase throws enemies off because you all the sudden hit like a f***ing truck. I take this over say Bloodforge because of the attack speed. It makes his passive more active and thus providing greater sustain.
Frostbound Hammer: I take this over the ability slow because well you're melee. As often as you get to use his abilities, he already has a built in slow with his 3. If you add frostbound hammer on top of that, enemies will NEVER get away from you. Even ones with good escape like anhur,Loki...etc.
Deathbringer: THIS is where you will see your damage skyrocket. I wait a little bit to get this because of the utility of the other items. However once you get this item you will see a noticable difference in your damage.
Jotunn's Wrath: That CDR this gives you is just amazing on Chaac. It's just enough to make all abilities feel natural. Non of them are really "Spammable", but you do get to use them quite frequently once you hit this point. Now that slow from his 3 gets even more annoying :)
Will add build 2 description soon
Build 3:
Ankh of the Bear:- This is the core of this build. I usually buy the level 1 Ankh and then the level 1 boots to start. Then finish building the Ankh. This item is great because in this build it focuses on pure physical reduction and converting that into phsyical power. So without this item the build is basically useless.
Boots:- Obvious boots are obvious
Breastplate of Valor:- I build this item third because it gives hefty boost to physical reduction and by this time will convert 15% of that into physical power. In addition if gives you 25% CDR and 300 mana to supply the spamming of moves. All around a good choice for a third item.
Focused Voidblade:- 4th item on the list and what a doozy! Gives you great physical reduction and additional physical power. On top of that you have the 15% conversion AND +25 physical pen. All around another great choice. If you feel like helping the team more, you can switch this for the Voidblade on the left to give the physical reduction aura.
Qin's Sais:- 5th on the list. This item provides some attack speed to help proc your passive for more free spells, gives you a decent amount of life steal, and a little physical power additionally. I prefer the 6% of missing health to the 4% of max health because I like the progression in damage more than constant damage. The choice is yours to make!
Frostbound Hammer:- 6th on the list. Want to chase down those pesky casters? Want to make sure no one escapes your destructive melee?! Well this is the item for you. Having your basic attacks slow the enemy for 2 seconds in combination with Chaac's Rain Dance(3) is a beautiful sight to see. It helps the team chase down enemies as well. Overall a great choice to help the team and yourself get more kills.
I have recently started experimenting with this build and has proven to be quite effective. It provides the tankiness of most warrior builds and a good amount of damage due to the Ankh. I feel this is geared more towards the typical warrior build and has proven to be quite efficent. I hope you enjoy it!
Blink: I ALWAYS get blink. It's great utility for escaping/engaging.
Girdle of Inner Power: The damage buff...that's all.
Other actives I use are: The Creeping Curse for an additional slow(with this many slows Chaac gets REALLY annoying)
Meditiation: Very good for chaac due to his already incredible sustain. This just adds to it.
Purification beads: I only get the beads when the team is heavy on CC.
His skills are fairly easy to level. Max out your 1 first because it's his poke ability and does really good damage. Second I max out 2 and followed by 3. Obviously level your ult whenever possible because it is the nastiest ult in the game. REALLY high dmg+Knock up(if you use your 1 ability prior) AND a 3 second silence...oh did I mention you are invunerable to ANY damage of CC during your ult...Yeah I know it's OP.
Pros:
Dat sustain!(if you utilize his passive with his 3 ability, you can live forever)
Great Aoe AND single target damage(all his moves are aoe, but his auto-attacks will wreck with this build)
He will melt faces late game
Really easy to play
and of course...He's just fun to play :)
Cons:
If focused you will be shut down so try to play defensively and capitalize on opportunities
Your team will think of you as a tank and can get VERY annoying.
Try not to be the one initiating the fights otherwise you will get slaughtered.
Ways to sustain: With Chaac's greatest ability being his sustain I feel there should be a section on how to sustain better. With Chaac this is incredibly easy due to his passive. The key to this is utilizing his passive. I stack a lot of attack speed within this build to help proc the passive every 5 basic attacks and with the CDR from Johann's Wrath you can spam your moves for free late game.
Alt method: This is what I have been doing lately as I have become better with Chaac. If you attack 4 times to get 4 stacks on his passive and then use your Thunder Strike(1) follow it up with your Torrent(2) to pull yourself to them and gain protections. If you basic attack 1 more time to get full stacks you can use the passive on a higher mana cost spell such as Rain Dance(3) or Storm Call(Ult). This method is harder to perfect, but it is BEAUTIFUL once you get the timing down.
Minions: With minions I always do 5 basic attacks to activate my Overflow passive. Once active I use the Thunder strike(1) to clear waves. If low on health or taking heavy damage from minions I activate Rain Dance(3) first and continue basic attacking until I get another free spell from my passive. In essence for minions just basic attack until you get a free spell through your passive and throw down that mighty axe or heal. This is the key to Chaac's sustain and will help your tremendously throughout the game.
I mostly use this build for Arena, but have tested it in some other gametypes as well. Early game you can poke away with your 1 and follow it quickly with your 2 for good poke. You may be "tanky" but this does not mean you are a tank. Wait for you tanks to initiate and you can quickly jump in with a 1+2 combo. For chasing enemies or helping allies chase, your 3 ability is your best friend. That slow+heal will make your teammates love you. If you use the 1+3 combo you can slow people from afar. His utility is incredible and is very active in all team fights. Later in the game you can chase enemies down even in their turret area and sustain through all the damage AND continue to melt faces. So don't hesitate to chase kills because most of the time it will pay off :D
Since release he has became one of the most powerful gods in the game. With his uber-sustain and his godly damage he can become an unstoppable force that can 1v5 their whole team including their tank. Hopefully this build will show you the way to becoming a great Chaac as opposed to one of those ****ty Chaacs you see around :p. Any feedback is greatly appreciated considering this is my first guide. I hope you all enjoyed it and have fun melting faces with Chaac :)

Love the build, have had mixed results, As I mentioned to you in game, the only thing I would like to see added is a magic defense tab so Kuang doesn't wreck my **** again :)
Thanks again man! I'll work on getting magic defense added to it and I'll let ya know when I have the build finalized. Try the new physical reduction build if you find yourself against a high physical team. Good luck!
turns into:
Well, this new build is pretty interesting. You probably already know this, but it lacks magical protection.
That's a bad thing, and you'll die without at least one magical protection item.
I have a suggestion: Just add one magical protection item and you'll be good. I'm not asking for a completely equal amount. Why?
Because Chaac's kit seems to be all about destroying mages, (dat 3 sec silence doe) so he could use that physical protection to just ignore the enemy hunters and bruisers and facepunch the enemy Zeus to death.
So I guess I like the new build, even if it's flawed.
Now for the continuation of my review:

You need a better skills section. A WAY better one.
A good skills section needs to go over what the skill does, and give a general "how-to-use" part. Yours just glosses over 2 and 3, and doesn't even explain any of them, or how to use them. You're supposed to explain how and when to poke, not that your one's a poke.
Oh, and I just realized you didn't put a skill order.
Here's an example:
Something like that.
Sweet much appreciated. I did notice I needed some magic resist, but was undecided on which item to use yet. I'll tinker with that a bit later. I'll update the skill section a bit later. Do you think I need that even with the "Farming Methods" section? That was the main reason I made that section. Other than that I'll add the sequence now. Thanks again man

Again, another guide posting an assassin like build on a warrior god. Chaac is going to be in the middle of the fight, half the time initiating especially if tank isn't around. Pure damage is going to help your team for a few seconds then you'll be dead. Anyone that notices a Chaac building pure damage is going to cc lock down and burst as soon as he does his 1-2 combo.
Frostbound Hammer. Good for gods like Anhur or Loki? No Loki will still get away with his ult or stealth. Anhur has pillar, his 1 knocks you away, and a jump. Not going to happen most of the time. Better off putting an item like ankh of the bear or something there. Stick to your 3 and/or creeping curse for slows.
Rage. Good for assassins, not good if you want to stay alive in a team fight as a warrior. Something like Runic Shield would be better for more survivability. Chaac relies more on skills than auto attacks, he has a unique skill set and by building the way you do, he's just another assassin that melts when focused.
Downvote from me, not enough variety to this guide and practically the same items as the others.
To be fair I did say this was a guide to MELTING FACES not enduring face melting. Now I understand the role of a warrior is almost a secondary tank with more damage, but with Chaac's already incredible sustain and immunity to damage during ult I feel that this is the best build I've found so far. I'll mess around with tankier builds and if I find they benefit the team and myself more I will update the guide. Thanks for the review though.
Instant damage is all well and good if you have like 2 tanks on your team. Otherwise, build tanky and facestomp the squishy mages in the back. Odin jumps in on your team and their zeus or poseidon is about to ult? No problem, 1-2 on them and keep them busy. Good luck doing that with no defense.
I don't know maybe it's just me but for gods like Chaac I find they are most successful by harassing and stomping on the glass cannons sitting in the back or keeping a few gods busy while your team focuses down a target. Building assassin, to me, is just plain stupid.
Well I will retract this showing for Conquest as it's obviously not made for conquest as I originally thought. However this build has proven to be incredibly effective in Arena and I feel that despite it being mostly damaged based, Chaac still has enough sustain to be tanky enough without too many tanky items. This is why I chose a more damage based route. I have built Warrior(tanky) builds with him and they just weren't as effective. Thanks for your input however. I'll keep it in mind as I go along.
Hi, i just got a question about one item. I play nearly the same build as you with one difference, Why do you buy the Frostbound Hammer when you have your rain that slows? I've read why do you use it, but does it really make a difference wouldn't you prefer some protecion or something like that?
(life still, protection or the Hydra Lamment as i take)
Sorry for delayed responses, I work 11 hour shifts so it may not be the quickest response. Now the hammer does give you 325 health so it gives you some additional protection. The slow from the basic attacks just ensures that no one will get away from you even with your Rain Dance(3). Due to the CD on Rain Dance it's not always available. So I use the hammer to chase down enemies and provide additional CC to help the team. Also I used the Hydra Lamment for quite some time and I did like it for damage, but the additional cc for the Frostbound Hammer has lead me to more kills and less deaths.
