All I can really say is be very careful and stay behind your team if you can. Only move up to wave clear or kill an enemy god you know you can kill. Poke with your one while also wave clearing, poke with your two while also rooting, and use your three to get your other abilities back really fast. Discordia is an incredibly hard hitting god, and her kit really supplements her ability to kill with a root.
Mage's Blessing is an extremely helpful starting item. I get it in Joust and in Conquest. Mana is good for sustain, and the extra ability damage is helpful for poking the enemy team early game. Sell this item after you buy Chronos Pendant, but only when you can complete the item.
I get Book of Thoth on usually every mage, so there's no reason that I wouldn't get it on Discordia. I like building Discordia for pure damage, so I'd rather have Book of Thoth than Warlock's sash.
Shoes of the Magi because always shoes, and this item is all around good. Magical power, penetration, AND movement speed? Sign me up!
After Shoes of Magi comes Chronos Pendant. As previously stated, CDR is stong with Discordia. You're going to want to use abilities as much as possible, and CDR is how you do it. Chronos Pendant gives CDR, magical power, and mana regen which helps with sustain. All around a good item, and one that I would build on any mage.
Spear of Desolation for more CDR, penetration, and power. Great stats for mages. Spear of Desolation's passive is really helpful if you can get kills, which is pretty easy for Discordia.
Ethereal Staff is great for tank shredding, but is only good if the enemy team has tanks to shred. If not, I would go with Soul Gem for the lifesteal and health. This helps make you a bit tankier, which is always helpful. Soul Gem's passive is really helpful for healing the team. Don't worry about the hitting enemies with abilities requirement, you'll do that pretty often with your first ability, Unruly Magic. The added damage and team healing is really is extremely good, so I would definitely recommend this item.
Rod of Tahuti is amazing because it's Rod of Tahuti. It's weaker now because of the nerf, but it's good for executing gods (Honestly Rod of Tahuti is not that good anymore so you'd probably want Divine Ruin because everyone builds lifesteal or a heal is some capacity).
Unruly Magic (one) is your bread and butter. Use it to demolish minion waves while poking the enemy gods. Make sure to make it land on the archers in the wave because it'll kill them and poke the enemy team. When a good is rooted with Strife, try to make your one land right on top of them, but if you have to do it quickly then just make sure it hits them. Unruly Magic goes through walls too which is helpful for surprising the enemy team or killing enemy gods.
Strife (two), is Discordia's CC. It's difficult to make it hit two gods, but if you can that's great. I mainly just use it to hit one god and root them to set them up for a hit with my one. It's also helpful to turn minions against each other. Another way I use it is to confirm kills on low health enemy gods that are trying to run away. I also, more rarely, use it to snipe low health gods through walls.
Erratic Behavior (three) is your escape. It's not a very long ranged escape, but it makes up for its short range with turning you invisible. Of course, this doesn't really matter against AoE abilities because the enemy team will known to hit the fog circle, but it helps with dodging basic attacks and targeted abilities like Loki's ult or Ao Kuang's ult. The main reason you will want to use this ability though is for the CDR, which, as stated many times before, is strong on Discordia. It can jump through walls in Joust, which is always helpful for escaping though.
Discordia's ult, Golden Apple of Discord, is an incredibly strong team fight ult. When the team fight is almost over, and a lot of the enemy team is at low health, ult the **** out of them and watch your kills stack up. In case you didn't read what Discordia's abilites did, it hits an enemy, CCs the hell out of them, and explodes. If another enemy god is in the explosion, they get the apple on them, except it doesn't have an AoE detonation. Golden Apple of Discord is also really good for executing a low health enemy god. The ult has a long travel time though, which makes it kind of difficult to hit. HiRez made up for the long travel time with the ability to ricochet, so that's nice.
Unruly Magic hits hard and is your main damage dealer. Use it to wave clear and **** up enemy squishies.
Strife is a root and is used to set up Unruly Magic and to snipe low health enemy gods.
Erratic Behavior is your escape, but its short distance makes it only useful to dodge AoE abilities or jump through walls. Use it mainly for the CDR.
Golden Apple of Discord damages whole enemy teams because it spreads, and it can snipe kill from across the lane.
