Pros:
- High early game damage
- Short ult cooldown
- Can set up ult with others
- Healing and attack speed reduction ult (its like enfeebling and weakening all in one!)
- Has an escape (although its not the best)
- His 3 slows gods at a ridiculous 40% (useful inside ult)
Cons:
- Jump combo is risky as you use your only escape and shield protection (still worth it)
- Jump combo can be easily dodged at times (unless they're really close to you)
- People with leap based escapes can exit out of the ult easily
- Ult traps you for the entire duration unless you jump away
- Jump combo falls off late game
- Not a very versatile god
Now the first thing you're probably wondering is why I don't have any cooldown built for my usual build. To be honest, Odin's abilities aren't all that great to deserve cooldown but you can still build it if you want to initiate with your ult more or jump at em like crazy. What's more important however, is having CC immunity. This is the one down side of his ult. There has been so many games where I would be slaughtering an opponent and eventually get turned down from CC attacks. Once you have your immunity however, you'll see them running circles inside your ult. Also, keep in mind that my build is heavily reliant on his ult for the maximum chance of success.
I decided to get rid of witchblade to the usual build as well because some gods that even rely on attack speed were still able to keep up with Odin inside the ult. Even though the description to the ult clearly says 60% attack speed reduction at max level, I found this to be completely bogus. What it really does is reduce any ADDITIONAL attack speed by 60%, not all of it completely. This means that if a god has an intial attack speed of 1 without any items and then bought items that increased it to 2.5, the reduction would be 1.5 x 0.6 since the god gained an additional 1.5 attack speed from its initial attack speed without items. Therefore, the god would decrease by 0.9 (since 1.5 x 0.6 is 0.9) making it from 2.5 attack speed to around 1.6 on average. This is not much of a surprise as that could make some assassins and basic attack reliant gods to be completely useless if the attack speed reduction applied to their attack speed as a whole. So, I found hide of nemean lion to do just what I want, punishing those who touch me. 20% basic attack reflection might not seem much but when they're inside an enclosed ring with no healing, it changes you into a masochist of death. The higher attack speed and damage the opponent has, the better. You'll be dishing out around 200-800 damage just from your hide of nemean lion depending on their damage output against you with auto attacks. Don't worry too much about mages, if your team initiates with you, they're usually the first to die inside your ult anyway.
Qin's Sais was also added partially due to the fact that you will most likely be auto attacking someone inside your ult with an upper hand. This makes up for the lack of penetration on the build although it will be mediocre against super tanky gods. 100% healing and 60% attack speed reduction will greatly increase your chance of winning a 1 v 1 with any god guranteed. This ult counters those who rely on attack speed such as Merc and Artemis and also those who rely on healing to survive such as Hel and Hercules.Though, make sure they have either used up their leap based escapes and teleports or else they'll run away with ease. When you trap people inside your ult, it is best to first use your 3 to slow them down and then continue by auto attacking your foes with your 2 ability up as extra protection against them. Have your 1 ready at all times for an escape as you are very vulnerable to CC attacks inside the ult as well as AOE attacks. The ult will also not protect you from ranged attacks (such as hunters) so be cautious and wise whether its best to stay in the fight or leave. Odin should be played more so of a bruiser tank than any other build. He WILL be focused when he is inside the ult with others so having high defense and decent damage are your top priorities for you and your teammates to prevail.
Also keep in mind that Odin is not much of threat in conquest compared to the other game modes.
Early game- Suicide jump at them as much as possible. You should be able to clear the minions with ease and deal a **** ton of damage. Be aware though, as this requires you to use your only escape and thus it makes you an easy prey against ganks. Try to stack up your passive as well. Even if the enemy is low and you can easily kill them with your auto attack, placing your ult before killing them can slowly buff up your physical power.
Mid game- Suicide jumps are still pretty effective although they will not drop an enemy's health as much as they did early game so use it wisely. Blink should be bought by now so rather than initiating with your jump, you can initiate with your blink. This will allow you to have a chance to escape if things go downhill. Set your ult with other teammates if possible and continue to build your stacks for your passive.
Late game- Your jump combo will fall drastically at this point. Its best to use your 3 as an actual shield inside your ult and your 1 as an actual escape at this point. Qin's Sais should help you dominate enemies inside your ult. Be a team player and use your ult as much as possible. You don't necessarily have to trap enemies each time you ult. You can isolate gods that are chasing your teammates to save them from danger for example.
Sorry that my guide is kinda short, I'm still messing with all the features this website has to offer. Once I get the hang of it, I'll probably spend some more time and add more chapters to this guide. Thanks for reading!
