T1 Boots and more reg potions if you're facing a serious threat.
Katana if you're confidend you can rush SCS - combo with 2 multi potions.
Attack speed and protection shredding are Erlang's bread and butter if he can survive well. The hammers give health and utility so they are kind of situational but can still work. The Katana tree is OK if you're feeling salty/trolly. Qin's is a very good pick against tanky solo-laners and gives you AS.
Physical defence against enemy ADC/JNG/SOLO is vital since Erlang can be quite squishy. If you get Mystical, sell it going into late game.
Bulwark's is nice - stacks with Urchin's. Magi's cloak helps Erlang with hard CC as he suffers greatly from it.
Good curve, good AS, good prots, good DPS. A bit risky but it fits my playstyle quite nicely. Your experience may vary, depending on your mechanical skill and juking ability.
This is quite a balanced build - not utilising your full dmg potential but how can you kill if you're dead? Switch Bulwark's and Nemean's if you feel you're being overpowered by auto-attacks from enemies. I still build Bulwark's coz of HP and stacking shields.
If you're solo, TP is kinda self-explanatory. Haste/Horrific if the enemy team is weak or have a bad comp against yours. Shield and Blink are very aggressive and do commant respect if the enemy knows what Erlang can do (especially if they have no hard CC to stop you).
(Self-)Healers on your lane/magical enemy jng? Get Pestilence.
Winged blade is a terrific multi-purpouse item: helps you chase or stay alive, I do love it, if it's needed.
Golden Blade is also an amazing option if you're already VERY ahead in your lane + your natural mobility, it makes a lot of sense to clear the enemy jng in less than a minute with your own jungler and keep your pressure.

I do not claim to be a great player but I do have fun when playing Erlang.
Please, do read the text in the bubbles - I would like to know what you think about my rationalizations.
My first build here - all comments and feedback are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time.
Erlang saw a huge uplift in play in recent patches. I've enjoyed him since the start of Season of 4, when I first started playing, so... pretty recently. Keep that in mind when going through this build guide.
Pros:
* High Single-Target Damage
* Good Attack Speed
* Good Crowd Control
Cons:
* A bit squishy
* Gets a very hard time with CC (like many others); especially if he's used his 3 to initiate.
* Other than CC, he has trouble with ranged gods since he needs to be in your face in order to deal dmg and be dangerous.

Also wouldn't go Guardians blessing on Erlang Shen. Instead go tier 1 beserkers shield, health chalice, and 2 health pots.
And, lastly - for the starter item. I have stated that this suits my playstyle very well. If I'm switching, I'm just gonna go SCS earlier. Use my 3 to go through creeps, box the enemy, get HP+Mana if he sticks near the wave... It's probably more of personal preference in my case, I guess. I don't feel like Warrior's Blessing is bad or anything - dmg blocking in early levels is probably better than T1 shield... unless you're like in competitive play (we saw what you mentioned at Dreamhack this year but it was pre-1-nerf so I guess boxing that well on lvl 1 is out of the question (at least using those options).
TBH, I'm much more intersted in discussing how to counter Tyr, for example. If you got any ideas? I suck against Tyr. :/ Well, against others as well, but I digress. :D
